I would go roll fed. Your going to be able to produce a lot of different products off the one mahine then you would with a flatbed. HP Latex are pretty plug and play these days. Print on almost anything and excellent quality. I would look into these.
With that being said I believe...
I was going to say isn't this what prevailing wage is for. When a city or company gives a union job to a non-union company they must pay prevailing wages or basically union wages. This makes the union workers feel like they aren't getting screwed over because they aren't getting under-cut...
Funny story. We were actually setting our banner prcing and ours is actually $4.20 sqft. When we made price it as 4.21 but the owner said lets make it 4.20 to keep it even. Sounds good to me.
I don't see how you could factor in design time to the sqft. price either. I could design a 12"x12" sticker and it might take me 4 hours because of the design. Or I could design a simple 12foot by 12foot banner and it could take me 10 minutes. So the 12x12 has to pay $144 for and the little...
Damn you guys are high? On prices and in life. We get $4 sqft. And when I bid this price I miss about 40% of the bids. This is no design, print, trim, hem, grommet.
Do they even make this. I don't think so. Maybe a pneumatic one. 4ft aluminum can be a pain to stomp sometimes. I couldn't imagine doing a full sheet accros.
Nobody else payed attention to the fact that it is short 3 inches which is def more then 1%. 1% should be 1.8" this is almost double. I would tell them yes I read it but this is more the 1%
Looks like a profiling issue as you have no problems when a test print is done. But only when the colors are run through your rip. I would suggest checking your rendering intents.
I know there are a lot of people using the vinyl express plotters. They are basically identical to the Graphtec plotters. But I would have to agree with the next person up. Not many big shops go for them. If you know you can fix it and can wait a couple weeks for parts to arrive then why...
I have had nothing but great luck with Grimco. Excellent pricing, delivery is always next day, the tech support for hardware is always great. They have a lot of people all around that will help solve your problems. And they have a location in San Fran.

Never cut against paint.... unless your using a slide knife. If you can for sure tell it was from your cuts you might have to eat it. Or buy the truck from him.
Seems like there is a backup in your lines on the one machine. Probably partially dried ink from the heads. Or might just be due to heat while printing and then when it sprays in the filter it slightly dries. This might be a big reason why everything is contained in one maintenance kit now...
This is the shop full of 3"squares and 2"x10foot strips stacked under the table. If you account for it in pricing, you can just save the big pieces and toss the tiny ones. Too much wasted time, trying to find the right size piece and right color by the time you get it done I have two signs...
