UV is a differnet smell. As for durability, UV for me has been way better than solvent. But ink formulation is far more varied in UV. I love being able to print on material that isn't coated to take ink. Metallic films and such just don't print without being smudgy messes on some plastics...

Could be ink starvation due to a bad damper.

Any complicated software that one lacks familiarity in feels like it sucks. I have had countless conversations that basically broke down into "RasterLink sucks, I don't know why I can't do XXXX" "Click that button right there." "Oh, that's stupid, it should be here."

Unlikely, need to make sure it is the same version, DX5 heads were all over the place. Some had multiple generations of lockouts on them. Going to be an expensive gamble, even on cheap heads.

As a person who works on both, I only run UV. It's more tolerant to neglect (inks don't dry up, but you need to shield them from light), no need for heated platens, and the ink tends to cost less depending on model. Still good to do your daily maintenance, but as long as powered, I don't have to...

Can also set axis compensation in the quality tab of RasterLink. Although, that is a per-job setting.

On the printer, go to machine setup and look for network and view the IP address from there to see if you can directly connect to it.

I have access to devkits for the controller boards, so no issue.

I am starting to build profiles for Chinese flatbed printers and was wondering what everyone used. I can do profiles for Onyx and Flexi as well as the weird stuff like RIIN and MainTop. Was wondering if people are just find using the obscure stuff that comes with the printer, or if they prefer...

Start here:

MainTop RIP is a bit weird, have to make sure spot colors are set correctly. Check the TIFF properties and make sure your white layers are setup in the same manner.

I figure if you can't even be bothered to take photos of things you print for your own website, you're not going to take the effort to make a quality product. That said, your own website states you only print for a few towns local to you.

If media is lifting, might want to turn vacuum strength to high if not there already. Also, make sure rollers are aligned.

Check wiper, clean underside of print carriage but avoid scrubbing down the nozzle.

The bed scanners are novel, but the software is ROUGH currently. Cool idea when fleshed out but will be interesting to see how they pan out in the long run.

If sitting with ink, probably not. If it was stored properly with flush in the system, should be recoverable.
