  1. Businessing is Hard

I worked in auto parts for a while to force myself to be social, helped a lot. I think most things are skills, albeit some harder to learn than others. But, we had a sales rep that everyone loved, guy came by once a year and seemed to remember everyone and would literally pick up a conversation...
  2. ISO wholesale exterior floor graphic printer ASAP

Do you want stickers that go on the floor, or a printer that works on the floor itself, like printing to concrete? I have a unit that does the latter.
  3. Businessing is Hard

Been lots of good advice in both this thread and in private, understanding the weak points are helping a ton and I am also talking to other shops where we might be able to help them solve their problems with machines, or engineering (for a nominal fee). I think part of the problem is regional...
  4. Businessing is Hard

The industry standard adhesive dispenser systems use swappable tips for that very reason. Buy hundreds for just a few bucks if you want. If you're selling automation, take the effort to automate. If people want to play flashlight curing games, give them the option to turn it off. If this was a...
  5. Businessing is Hard

For that kind of price, you'd think they would mount a damn UV light on the thing. "Use the included UV flashlight so you can cure the resin when you want." Yeah, last time I tried that BS line on a printer rebuild, I was told to screw off and just fix the lamps. =P Here you go, $70...
  6. Businessing is Hard

Hit a Michael's or Hobby Lobby, lots of nice brass-ish paints to play with.
  7. Businessing is Hard

Lots of CNC background, went to school for automation and controls and went off the damn deep end over the past 24 years. Wanting raised braille (additive) or recessed braille (subtractive)? Looked into using epoxies (printed) or tiny pins for making raised letters as it ends up being super easy...
  8. Businessing is Hard

I think fun and success tend to be almost mutually exclusive, however, I am quite happy overall. Today's dumb project is designing a 2ft x 3ft flatbed with a BOM under $1800. Skipping the vacuum bed and using 6x TX800 heads means the main expense is just the control board. Wanting a flatbed...
  9. Businessing is Hard

AI is such a terrifying thing, I don't know how anyone can use Illustrator with a straight face. Wait, wrong AI. It even has the right number of hands, astounding!
  10. Businessing is Hard

I really hope you drew that, as it is amazing. And yes, businessing is hard, but I am happy I am trying; even if I do suck at it.
  11. Question Service Manual for Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX ??

If you want a manual for a printer that has a lot of common parts, I can send you one for the UCJV300, it uses the newer head assemblies unlike the first generation JFX200. Or, I can send you the proper manual. Check your DMs.
  12. Question Ricoh GEN5

I recognize that nozzle check pattern, never heard of the printer brand, however. Control electronics are definitely HosonSoft or a copy of that. Check your capping station and make sure everything looks good. Probably not going to be an electrical fault in the head itself but might be air in...
  13. Question Service Manual for Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX ??

So, ya got an EX or what? The revision in 2019 for the JFX200 manual doesn't turn it into a manual for a JFX200 EX. Just like if I sent you a manual from 2020 for the UJF-6042 that manual will not suddenly turn into a manual for a UJF-6042 MKII.
  14. Question Ricoh GEN5

Yeah, nozzle check is everything, can't do anything without sanity checking your work. If a head is giving you a hard time, I guess maybe you're referring to nozzles dropping out, or maybe clogging? Maybe catching fire? Depending on your solvent compatibility with the head, you can flush it...
  15. Question Service Manual for Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX ??

Looking at revision notes, the non EX manual didn't have a ton of major revisions throughout the years. Are you wanting a service manual for the old 2-head model, or do you want a manual for the EX? If it's the latter, Mimaki doesn't "update the manual" for a new model of a printer, they release...
  16. Businessing is Hard

Based in Oklahoma City, home of tornadoes, a mediocre basketball team and some interstates! As far as commissions go, I guess that might be workable. Our margins are low, so lots of room for markup. Not paying mortgage level payments each month on financed/leased equipment or anything like that.
  17. Question Service Manual for Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX ??

I mean, to be fair, the EX is a different model, so there are going to be a boatload of changes.
  18. Businessing is Hard

Looking for a flatbed, or roll printer?
  19. Businessing is Hard

Gen5's are pretty good about jetting most crap you can feed them, doubly so if you use their heaters. That said, getting inks certified is a massive pain in the butt and not something I plan on doing. Plus, my chemical engineering background is scant at best.
  20. Businessing is Hard

Compatibility of inks is mostly dependent on the head itself. Thankfully the control boards I have been working with support more robust industrial heads such as the Ricoh Gen5/6 as well as a variety of Epson heads. Heads themselves are too expensive to manufacture, so will always be dependent...
