I Love printing direct to magnet material on my Roland XR640. Roll to Roll. Never have I had a head strike in five years.
I don't print magnets daily, I save them up and run them monthly, On about four rolls of material 30"×50'.
All printed on a Roland XR-640 and cut on a Graftec 2250.

I'm running three Roland print / cut printers but don't use do cutting on them.
I cut on Graftec 8600 and 9000 cutters.
Everything I print today I cut tomorrow.
12 to16 rolls of 54"×100' gloss vinyl every week.
80% of shipping boxes we use are USPS Boxes. 20+ per week.
Turn them inside out, tape them back together, fill them up and ship them out, (FedEx, UPS, USPS)
And they are FREE at your local Post Office, Five sizes to choose from.
I print neon colors on my Seiko W64 printers and I'm down to my last ink cartridge, they are no longer available.
Have two Roland XR-640 printers and just bought the new VG3 for the orange color.
I will look into the Neon colors for Roland and see if I can change one of my XR-640 printers to...
Nope.
I have found that if I have a Large job and it dosent read the barcode the first time, just restart and resend the job.
If you are not using barcodes and the sensor does not read the first crop mark, hit the retry button and if it only reads one side of the crop mark, Stop the job, realign...
I'm running two XR-640 printers 10 to 15 hours a day, they are bullet proof. Just added a VG3-540 to replace our two Seiko W-64 printers which after this year will be used up.
So far the VG3 is keeping up.

I just finished printing the 6th 50ft roll in two weeks of magnet material roll to roll.
Printed Roland XR-640 then cut on Graftec FC-2250.

I just recieved another 60 - 30"x50' rolls of magnet material.
I will be printing all shapes and sizes on a Roland XR-640 solvent ink printer then cutting on a Graftec FC2250.
My suggestion in having great results is to take your time and make sure everything is feeding straight and set the head...
