Yesterday it was working fine and when I came in this morning. Now the bi-direction is way off. I've cleaned the encoder strip and calibrated it. and this is where I am now.
Now sure where to go other than a new encoder strip but I'd think it would all be off not just the first two adjustments...
I started using Arlon 510 for stickers/decals but the print quality wasn't as good as the 4500. The 4500 didn't do great with perf cutting for me either. I wasted a quarter of a roll on reprinting jobs. I've gone to GF 302 for my stickers/decals and have been happy with it.
Thanks guys. I guess I'll just have to live with it, it's just an annoyance more than anything. I do warm it a little post-lamination to help it along.
I still haven't been able to resolve this silvering issue. I know it's usually due to cooler laminate, but it's been up to 75 degrees in here and I still get silvering. It goes away after a couple days but it's frustrating that everything is coming out this way.
Any suggestions on what I can...
People asked for it a lot and I really didn't want to use it. I've found a happy medium of max ink limit and fading backgrounds a bit. Along with a calendared laminate they come out pretty decent. Haven't had any complaints or found alternatives. Guess RTape it is.
Yes the force seems a bit on the high side. Should probably be around 90 for contour and 170ish for the perf. I would reset your blade (approx .5mm) and recalibrate the pressure for your cutting. I would also try a 60 degree blade. It'll work much better for doing the perf cut.

Yeah I did have that happen when the magenta was low after replacing it I still got the same result on the test print.
Thanks! Do you know of any good resources for doing maintenance on these things? I've got the service manual but still like to know as much as possible before going in. Thanks!
Yeah I would like something a bit thicker I can use for a bit thicker sticker and also labels without laminate that are fairly easy to apply.
Do you always mix your laminates? I noticed on my stuff I used with the GF 101 shrinks up quite a bit.
I've been doing lots of stickers and labels. I'm on a limited budget and have been using the same material for both but would like to switch it up and use one vinyl for stickers and another for labels.
What do you guys use for product labels and do you laminate them?
Well Digiprint emailed me saying my order will ship tomorrow. No reason as to why it's taken a week so far. Guess I'll see if anything shows up this week. *fingers crossed*
I bought this 3 months ago and I'm trying to learn this thing inside out. I'm not absolutely sure what "needs" to be changed other than the sponge and ink pad and wipers. Should cap tops be replaced? I don't think I should mess with the dampers if my heads are ok.
I'm not liking what I'm seeing in this thread. I asked on another forum where people got parts but I got Zero responses. So just going back and forth searching for parts they had what I needed.
I placed the order 4 days ago and it hasn't shipped and when I chatted with the customer service rep...
I'm still learning about the machine and more now that I'm having to figure out how to do the maintenance myself on it. I believe they do share the same pump. My yellow ink level was lower so that was probably it. I'll run another test when I get a moment. Thank you!
So this morning I noticed the I'm getting magenta in my yellow printing. Bad head or something else? Can't afford to be down at all right now. I'm running a SP-540V
