  1. Once Again Faulty Chip Readers Causing Errors.

I am now on my 8th replacement of one of the chip readers on our Mutoh 1604. Absolute rubbish design which has took me off line for 5 hours this morning!!!! Sadly it mangles the chip reader pins and has failed on original cartridges and when using bulk inks. It's lucky I have had this issue...
  2. Mimaki Jv3 Permanent Chips Not Reading

I think it will probably be due to the date on the machine. If I remember you can reset the date by removing the bios battery on the main board. You have to remove the firewire card before you can access this. This question has been asked before, I would advise a search through previous posts. SC
  3. New Mutoh 1604x

I am more than happy with the 1604. I would want to run this on bulk inks as I do with my 1604 as OEM inks are overpriced and in my experience no better. SC
  4. New Mutoh 1604x

I have had an email from one of my sellers saying that Mutoh have launched the 1604X (which is a good price). I currently have an original 1604. What are the differences between the two machines or is Mutoh just trying to sell something old as new? Also do these have both the same Epson DX5...
  5. Selling Rolls Of Vinyl To Customers

The big issue is the man (or woman) of the street looking for a 20 foot off cut!!! In our business their is no such thing as an off cut, everything can be made into a sign or graphic. I basically mark up any pieces of vinyl 500% if they want it that badly they can pay for it.
  6. I Hate This Customer

I manufactured a pole sign for an Indian Restaurant and on the day of installation the owner insisted he wanted a 10 year guarantee on the sign and electrics. I had to get a lawyer involved to make them understand that such a long guarantee of an item was not possible. It took nearly a year for...
  7. Mutoh Bulk System - Generic Ink Recommendations

I have been using JetBest for a few years now. Absolute no issues at all just like OEM Mutoh inks. SC
  8. Need Help Print Head Bad? (pics)

How old is the head as they last no more than 4-5 years no matter how much they have been used? Also the first thing I would be doing is change out the complete maintenance station. SC
  9. Looking For Artwork For A London Trolley (horse Cart)

I have pictures of the panels. I just don't have any designs to play with. SC
  10. Looking For Artwork For A London Trolley (horse Cart)

Can no one help me with this sort of artwork? This type of job will probably take over a week to input and three days to make and apply as I am a stickler for detail on jobs such as this. I just cannot be put out of action for nearly 2 weeks at the moment. I even have to check my schedule for...
  11. Need Help Mutoh 1604

Probably more lightly to be dampers. Techs are always wanting to blame on after market inks. I have ran my 1604 on after market inks for the last 7 years with no problems. Post a picture of what your bulk ink system looks like. It will come up as a sub tank error if their is an issue with them. SC
  12. Looking For Artwork For A London Trolley (horse Cart)

I have a good friend who has had a London Trolley (Horse Cart). This one is a bit special though he wants it to be vinyl graphiced and not sign written as they normally are as this one is off steel construction and has all sorts of bells and whistles (hydraulic disc brakes). I am looking for...
  13. Sponge For The Vj1204 Printer

I have found the sponges to be very expensive for what they are. You can make the printer spit onto the material. SC
  14. Suggestions New Printer

I didn't find an issue with banding on the valuejet and much like most printers the colour gamut is acceptable. Adding more colours into a printer can just add more things to block and go wrong. If a client is getting fussy about matching colours perfectly, maybe they should go elsewhere. SC
  15. 3m Envision 480 Sv480cv3 Issue

It is a very strange material indeed. You can heat it and heat it and it seems to stay stable. I think maybe the issue you had a start of the roll Dunbar is a contamination one. Biggest issue with this material is the Controlac repositioning is not as good and it can grab a little to fast for my...
  16. 3m Envision 480 Sv480cv3 Issue

I loaded a roll of 3M Envision 480 SV480Cv3 into my Mutoh Valuejet. I gave it a light wipe over with some isopropyl Alchol on the leading edge, as I do with most substrates I load into machine. This is just in case their is any oily fingerprints on the material by the previous person who...
  17. Suggestions New Printer

Why not another Mutoh? My old 1604 is built like a tank and much better built than the smaller 1204, 1304 and 1324 machines. It will be 10 year old in September of this year and still prints as well as the day it was installed. I do 95% of my own maintenance now with consumables and main parts...
  18. Unclogging Dx4 Heads.

I have had very little good results trying to unclog print heads on DX4s. Sometimes their is other issues and the nozzles have failed causing the clogs. I realise new DX4s are becoming harder and harder to source and maybe it would be a good idea rather than wasting hours and hours trying to...
  19. Need Help With 3m Color Matching

Sometimes it just isn't possible to match some colours with a palette that only consists of 3 colours and black! We all struggle with reds, blues and greens. In fact you really need to educate your client with the limitations of digital printing and sometimes trying to colour match a certain...
  20. Suggestions Make A Sandwich Of 3 Acrylic Sheet

Chloroform!!! I haven't used it since the 80s. We got it from the local Vets of all places as it was what they used as animal sedation!!! Bloody dangerous stuff. You can dip each sheet and place it on top of the other and it will seal perfectly. The only down side is Chloroform is water...
