  1. Question Migrating from Flexi to Illustrator

I completely agree, most of our workflow still involves flexi and it really does such a nice job of what it is designed to do. I would have a very hard justifying a complete switch without keeping both (or at least a flexi design license). I am assuming you are using a different RIP already...
  2. Just In Difference..............

This has been quite entertaining, welcome back.
  3. How does this fly...no pun intended

Don't worry, I gave him crap about that too!
  4. How does this fly...no pun intended

These were sent from a friend at the Springfield Illinois airport. I don't understand. My closest guess is adhesive failure and the janitors stuck them back on. Could be a great opportunity for a local shop.

  7. How to get designs to Flexi

Not at all trying to comment on the quality of your work here, just mentioning what I have observed. Sloppy illustrator files tend to be problematic in flexi. Well organized illustrator files tend to be easy to work with in flexi. If you have problems it is likely going to be with gradients...
  8. Creating new shortcuts in Illustrator

Another thing I have found really useful in learning illustrator are a couple courses here https://www.udemy.com/adobe-illustrator-cc-advanced-training/ they are super cheap (like $12 each if you leave them in your cart a couple days they drop half off). We watch a couple lessons over lunch...
  9. Creating new shortcuts in Illustrator

Like mentioned above, you could set up an action (I think you can find the actions panel under "windows") or make a custom toolbar for your favorite tools. One of the issues that you will probably run into is that you have to select a key object to align to (unless you are aligning to the art...
  10. FADE with Dots/circles in Flexi

Actually pretty easy in flexi, need to play around a little to get perfect but here is what I did, example attached. 1. Draw small object 2. Draw large object 3. Effects, Blend, enter steps, check mark 4. Adjust spacing if desired using arrange, spacing (or "J" shortcut), I skipped this step 5...
  11. FADE with Dots/circles in Flexi

Have you tried using the blend tool in flexi? Also if you have a flexi subscription, log into SAi design elements and look for one in the vector library.
  12. Print / Production Environments - How Strict Are You?

If you still have issues after implementing your new setup I would add those tacky floormats at the entrance (you can get them from any cleanroom supply company. Honestly with that setup you are going to be miles ahead of most shops.
  13. Anybody receive JRS orders since the move???

I have some JRS frames on order since last year and a customer asking for more of the same. They have always been slow but good quality. They gave fair warning to those ordering last December that they were moving and to expect delays. Just curious if anyone on here has received any products...
  14. Wait WHAT

Wow that sounds awful! Good luck getting it sorted.
  15. Wait WHAT

We haven't had any PM issues with the new build, but we are running Windows 10. As for tiling a contour cut, as mentioned above I have always paneled manually in flexi before sending. Let us know if you figure it out!

  17. Banner hemming & eyelet machines

We have a royal sovereign banner welder, the original design rbw-1500 and I have NOT been impressed with it. Supposedly they fixed some issues with the newer model. We would like to upgrade to a leister or miller but have been seeing lower volume lately and we outsource anything grand format...
  18. Best Way to Install this Sign Packaga

Either full template or spacer jig like moze said, one this to remember is to always check what you are measuring from. Ceiling to floor spacing can be pretty inconsistent even in new construction. Another little tip is to use a laser transit or laser line on a tripod if you have room. Mark your...
  19. Installing a heavy 1/2" aluminum sign panel

Roosmosh is right, simple calc says that the plate weighs 42 lbs without any material removed, I would be more concerned about wind loading and the spacing of anchors then the weight of the sign.
