Can anyone tell me why the Roland vp540i is printing black as 97% black? have updated Versaworks...updated the firmware...sent a black rectangle as a pdf,Eps....from Illustartor and Coreldraw to Versaworks....to no avail. Even used several profiles....still no...and YET...printing the roland...

your question is vague. when you select the jpeg and the "object" then "Live trace" and "tracing options".....make sure it does NOT say "greyscale"....play with the options to get what you want. If you are a signmaker....you can use flexi's trace (the color trace is good)....but for node...

Vinyl colour will last longer and no need for lamination...i suppose you could just print/lam/cut if you want to redo it every 3-4 years....in this case i would go two layers of high-perf.

ok..the Roland Versacamm print/cut is about $16kUSD..30" the 54" about 40k laminator 3-4k.....ink $500 a set....vinyl $150-400 per roll and dont forget the sign design software 3keach...so if it is just a hobby...pick something more fun thats cheaper (unless you're rich) hehe years of learning...

I agree the graphtec CE quicker 57 inches per/sec...twice the speed of most....the roland pro series are as fast too but....in the past i always found roland cutters to be noisy and crude controls. look on the beacon graphics site...the graphtec 24" is cheaper and faster than the roland 24" and...

flexi definitely prints darker than versaworks...what printer do you have? if you feel it neccessary to calibrate your monitor and printer go to x-rite (gretag macbeth) i would print off some good color charts too...so you know what color you will get when you spec. it.
