Have you tried printing out a 'Adjust Bi-Dir' (Detailed Settings) and a Feed Calibration Test print to see if all is well in that area. Is Head Height on 'High' or 'Low' as I have found that a High Head height sometimes gets over spray on edges on my printer.

Had the fisheye bubbles or something similar myself a while back on a new roll of PVC banner media and as the new media roll is tightly wound and sticks on itself there could be an electrostatic charge when the roll is unwound when pulled through the printer....so I usually roll out the media...

Yes, the way you are describing it, that does sound dramatic...but it was direct line of site as I could see the entire printer and the lamp working on the job, and the sunburn effect on my face was not imaginary...lol .There are other exposure hazards that should considered as well...Inhalation...

I had this problem and the Technician fixed it by putting in a new damper, caps, trimming the ink line connection coming from the Ink Cartridges at the other end of the VP 540 Printer and then re-seating the join so it is a tight fit, as these connections can work loose / expand over time maybe...

It was a number of different materials...MacTac 5829P - (Fantastic for print and cut labels) is the Cyan test print above, Arlon 4600LX for the second from top print test and Arlon SLX Cast for the 1st and 4th test prints above. The Bi calibration worked great, nice solid looking print colors...
