  1. what do you hate about your software?

Good idea for a thread....My biggest pet peeve for years using Illustrator is that it still does not have a collect for output function or package function that will gather all your links and fonts into a folder for release. Am dumbfounded they have not included this function yet. I have read...
  2. Something that's been on my mind (design related)

Being a designer for the past however many years, I have wrestled with this a lot. More so in my younger years when I was way more passionate and cared more than I do now. I still care, and sometimes I'll fight for a design I know is better. A year or so ago, when designing a logo for a client...
  3. simple illy file with 5 signs is 38mg!!!

I dunno...honestly if you get much art directly from customers I would upgrade too. I mean, cs2? If I gave art to someone who only had cs2 I would be a little reluctant too....
  4. Party Supply Store Logo

was gonna post on how I agreed about the font below not fitting in, but then read on and saw customer canned it. Bummer, that was a great script! For what it's worth, I have like 3-4 logos in my portfolio that the customer canned :)
  5. Logo feedback, please.

I agree with signmeup. Needs more "butch"! None of them say construction or engineering to me, and they look a little dated too. You have a great opportunity to play off the letterforms and how they are symmetrical, maybe play around with that some more but keep everything heavy and sharp.
  6. "Post Crap You've Drawn"

Damn Weasel, please stop posting! I keep going down a notch every time! Kidding, kidding. Great stuff on this thread, I dig it. I'll try and dig up some stuff if I can find the time and somethin worthy...
  7. Just wondering

    yup. definitely vector drawn.
  8. "Post Crap You've Drawn"

    sorry, couldn't resist Heh.
  9. Logo Making Template Software

Adholio, you are a piece of work. First you tell someone to google $99 logos, pick any of them, then double the price and be done with it if your client likes it. Then a response of OMG, and you edit your post to say "understand I'm not encouraging this route...blah blah blah." Which is it...
  10. Logo Making Template Software

    oh....em....gee.
  11. Point of sale / accounting software.

After much research we settled on Cyrious. First impressions are it (or any job management/POS software I would reckon) is only as good as how well you set it up. So far, we're happy with it, but for what it's worth are only 1 month into using it.
  12. Hey Betsy from 3M!

Agree with squeeGee. I can see both sides. I'll wait to hear all the details before completely writing off 3m, but it is a free market society after all. We'll see if this move alienates enough sign shops to affect their market share. I am sure this has been in the works for a looong time, all...
  13. I just have to know

yup, good price. i quickly figured w/in about $60 of yours.
  14. Adtechia Is Back

Addy, welcome back. I was beginning to think your Mom or one of her realtors found all your posts on here and put the hammer down, heh.
  15. HP Scitex FB700

We were using cast acrylic and white for that job. We weighed the white issue and the changeover. Our thoughts were, white is probably 10% of our business. One benefit of switching over is the heads don't need to constantly be cleaned as much, so you don't waste as much ink by flushing the white...
  16. HP Scitex FB700

We have had our FB 700 running for about 3 weeks. We aren't quite in full production mode yet, but are generally happy with the results and will be running it solid starting next week. A few things we have noticed...if you are printing on acrylic, turn the lamps up all the way or the ink will...
  17. Critique my Card - Final Round

i like the typography you had in post one. bold font with light font. i also liked just the logo on the front, all other info on the back. at some point, you gotta make the call though.
  18. Tell me what you think

yeah, that is bad. This one instance where I would fight as hard as I could against what the customer wanted. It looks so bad now. If they insist not to have neck upright I would show only the head somehow.
  19. Critique my Card - Final Round

I like both new versions. I like the vertical one too, but not if you have your logo turned the other way on the backside. Just my $.02. Nice improvements, so much better.
  20. Critique my Card - Final Round

I actually think this is working much better. I don't usually like flopping the orientation of a business card from front to back though. That said, I think version one looks good. What you may consider, is adjusting the placement of the blue bar, so it kinda matches the height of the letters of...
