  1. Summa F1612 vs Colex SXC1717

Is footprint a concern? It is for us and we really like the summas small footprint. The goproduce software is really super user friendly as well.
  2. Summa F1612 vs Colex SXC1717

We just got a f1612 last week, so far it's been great! What applications are you looking to do with it? Also, just so you know, the summa has a working area of 63" x unlimited length as it uses a conveyor belt, not sure what the colex has as I didn't look at them.
  3. Suggestions For walk-in sign businesses - Your COVID-19 update tips

No, there are the responsible doctors who follow the scientific method, and there are the quacks who are trying to sell snake oil to gullible fools who have such an ingrained distrust of society that they are desperate to cling onto anything that confirms their bias.
  4. Suggestions For walk-in sign businesses - Your COVID-19 update tips

Wow, congrats you found a video on the internet of a nutjob doctor. There are idiots and poorly informed people in every profession, 9 out of 10 dentists recommend brushing your teeth after all. The scientific method is not behind these people, if these drugs worked and could be proven to help...
  5. Taking delivery of our new Summa F1612 next week, what else should I know?

It should be able to cut that with the HD knife no problem if it's not too complex of a cut, or the EOT would be the best for complex shapes
  6. Cutting polycarbonate with a panel saw

We have a saw blade in our table saw for plastics, it works well with polycarbonate. The blade looks almost identical to our non ferrous metal Blade, so if you have one of those try it first.
  7. Sign businesses around the country

To play devil's advocate, whenever someone from Florida posts in one of the "what would you charge for this" threads they always say they would never get that price in their market.
  8. Wanted EPSON SURECOLOR 80600 LEAK - REPAIR NEEDED

When I dealt with Epson for warrantee work on our S80600 it was awesome, they avernighted enough parts to basically rebuild the printer, the tch showed up the next day, fixed the issue and took all the extra unused parts back with him, no waiting on the tech to diagnose, order parts and come...
  9. Summa F1612 tools/questions

I can answer your first question, the registration is absolutly perfect when the bed moves, we cut a bunch of 2" wide x 10 foot long vinyl strips the other day and you can't tell where the table advanced at all on the finished product, also the registration to the print was perfect, I mistakenly...
  10. Bleed not holding in Onyx 12

Onyx has some glitches like this, it will often forget settings like paneling layouts as soon as you click submit. Try rotating the artwork in your design program and resending it, not sure what but sometimes this fixes odd issues in onyx for me. When I first started using onyx after using...
  11. Source for stencil?

We make tons of stencils on our laser engraver, cut them out of mylar sheeting, or oilboard, depending on how long it's intended use is. Oil board can probably be cut with a standard plotter with multiple passes.
  12. Need Help Choosing the right Laminator

If you only want to apply application tape, pretty much any laminator will work, even a manual one like this...
  13. Carving in go produce

We just got a new F1612 with the router attachment. I was wondering if it's possible to V carve text with go produce? I don't think it has any 3d abilities. I'm new to this machine and it's it's been about 12 years since I've worked with a CNC router. Cheers!
  14. F1612 cutting issue

Just an update in case this happens to anyone else. The same issue started happening the next day on our graphtec 8600, turns out onyx cut server was creating incorrect cut files. Reinstalled onyx and everything is fixed.
  15. UV printed braille on HP FB550

I know the small Roland desktop UV printers can do raised lettering and braille, but when I saw it being done it was painfully slow and the end result was "meh" at best. I would look into a small engraving machine and the raster braille method, it's way faster and the end result is much nicer...
  16. F1612 cutting issue

We are having our 1612 cutter installed this week and it's giving us an issue that has the tech stumped, mind you he is a bit green at this. When kiss cutting printed vinyl graphics, the "home" side of the machine cuts dead on accurate, but the "away" side is off by up to 1/2" in the gantry...
  17. Impact modified acrylic for sign faces? And maybe formed faces?

Grimco in Canada has 3 options for roll stock for backlit cabinets, acrylic, polycarb and impact modified acrylic. We try to use polycarb where possible because it's easier to fabricate, but impact modified acrylic is good stuff as well, it doesn't yellow like polycarb, and has almost the same...
  18. What would you have quoted for this boat vinyl + install?

I would be over $200 even if he brought the boat to my shop. Don't feel bad some people don't value anyone's time but their own, just shrug it off and move on. Looks like a nice boat, reminds me of when someone came in to our shop to ask about getting something engraved as a gift, scoffed at...
  19. Polycarbonite shortage...

Yup, there was a shortage on clear acrylic when covid started, so manufacturers focused on that, now there is an abundance of clear acrylic on the market, but everything else is gone. I tried to order some clear P95 acrylic, no one has any, no eta either.
  20. Parking Sign with Changeable Slot

Check out an engraving shop and see 8f they will sell you an aluminum name plate holder, then vhb it to your sign.
