Run the documents through a PDF editor and place your details at the top. Send it back to them and tell them they need to also fill out the same documents so you can be paid prior to doing the job..they might get the message..They are your clients,,they only need your Business details to place...
You dodged a bullet by the sounds of things..but I can assure you the mainboard causes that problem..
you may have had a boot failure and the reboot worked properly the second time
Make sure your capping station is adjusted level.. There is an adjustment screw on the right hand side. Allen screw with a locknut on it. Also make sure your ink lines are tight and no air leaks. Remove the cover from your ink cart and check the solenoid is also staying energised
Just power it down on the panel and leave power turn on to the machine..The auto clean cycle will take care of the rest.
Doesn't hurt to run a strip of all colors and a test print every couple of days if the machine is not in use much

Bought an XC540 here yesterday (Saturday). Ink carts were damaged from a workshop shift. Ripped an old FJ that I had laying in the yard apart. 3 hours later I did a test print with it after changing out the parts and flushing the heads..Perfect.. Paid $150 for the XC. the FC was retired years...
Starting out, find yourself a Roland SP540v. It will allow you to print larger signs once you are comfortable with the printing process. The Sp300 and Sp540 run all the same gear in them and are user friendly and easily maintained or repaired if you are hands on. They are an older type machine...
