UV white is not very strong.
If you want to cover dark color with uv white your are going to have to print 300-400% white. My flatbed lets me print 400% or more in the same pass, not sure if the fb700 lets you.
i don't think the black PVC idea is a very good one for a print with that much...
When leaving it printing at night just clean it before leaving and you should be able to avoid it. Usually the oil cleans easy form prints anyway with no damage.
I use both. Each has his advantages.
i like caldera more for color management and mass production.
for doing a lot of small runs and different clients I see a lot of advantages to onyx. I wouldn't use caldera for my small latex printers. I didn't like the workflow for many different jobs...
X2 on seal.
First lasted 12 years, needed a tech once and still works. We upgraded and got another seal 62" pro. We constantly do complete rolls, no problems.
You are going to need an I1 and make your own profiles.
the quick "fix" is to print a patch of grays playing with color densities until you find a grey that you like. This is like manually correcting a incorrect profile, but it will never be as good one.
No printer prints the same. You need a spectrophotometer to make your own profiles for each printer.
You will also need a profile software if your rip doesn't have one.
