  1. 3165ra Failing

Actually, Oracal specifically says 3165 is "NOT for vehicle graphics or wraps." And, personally, I would never use calendared vinyl or print media for vehicle graphics.
  2. 3165ra Failing

Are you talking print/cut, or just cut graphics? Much of the print media with air release can be tricky for cutting smaller items- especially when laminate is added. I solve that by always having an extra plotter blade/assembly that's used only for small text/items. It's always the newest...
  3. By Appointment Only

It's a good "rule" if you can get everyone in the shop to follow it. And it's very effective in deterring the time wasters.
  4. 3165ra Failing

    According to this page, Oracal recommends these for vehicles: ORALITE® 5600 Fleet Engineer Grade ORALITE® 5650RA Fleet Engineer Grade ORAJET® 3169RA ORAJET® 3551 ORAJET® 3551RA ORAJET® 3551DT ORAJET® 3675 Window Graphics Film ORAJET® 3751RA ORAJET® 3951 ORAJET® 3951RA ORAJET® 3981RA...
  5. A Bit Of A Pickle...

If they aren't laminated, count on the same customer returning to complain the new ones are scratched, too.
  6. Question Application Tape For 3m 1080 / Ij180c

For alignment, I would always cut a rectangle (or square) around the graphics and trim out for a straight edge to use. You might also want to make note of how your installers transport graphics. I found they were often the root cause of graphics getting messed up because they'd just (literally)...
  7. Anyone Use This Company?

Their web page says they're mind readers- that would solve some language barrier issues. Unless they can only read your mind if you think in Thai. I, too, am curious why you wouldn't look for a vendor closer to your location? Do these guys do something no one else does?
  8. Vinyl Removalon Many Vehicles

I'd give them an estimated time/price for doing them and tell them it will be billed by actual time- then keep careful track of how long it takes. You definitely don't want to screw yourself. Or, you could give them an estimate and tell them you could revise/finalize pricing after doing maybe 10...
  9. Question Application Tape For 3m 1080 / Ij180c

I'm not familiar with any transfer tape that sticks to a liner. If you're having problems with transporting cut graphics, I would suggest cutting a weed border around your plots and leaving what's outside of it- applying the transfer tape over it. The "extra" vinyl will give your transfer tape...
  10. Efi Prints For Vehicle Wraps

    My first thought was horsepower!
  11. Fluorescent Overlays Are Shorter Than Printed Graphics

A solution for that particular job would be to print all black (no "cut out" for the fluorescent) and then apply the cut vinyl. Doesn't solve the underlying issue of the print size and cut size not matching, but it would take care of the particular job.
  12. Graphic/logo Designer

100% agreement on the vectors. Only mentioned Photoshop and GIMP as an alternative due to the original post.
  13. Just In Wit A Wee Lil' Help..............................

Must have been the Irish coffee.
  14. Just In Wit A Wee Lil' Help..............................

Nitpick (as an O'Connell descendant)... It's Paddy's. :guido: The green one seemed appropriate.
  15. Suggestions How Would You Approach This?

Man- I left all kinds of important info out! Yes- the idea is to paint them here, number them, ship them out. We're not overly concerned with them being perfectly aligned, or with small gaps. The logo is supposed to look "weathered". That said- my solution accomplishes it without actually having...
  16. Suggestions How Would You Approach This?

Ah... I left out something. The siding will be received already coated/painted in the color that it will be when put on the building, so we're only painting once. The builders are putting a clear stain/weatherproofing on once the siding is on the building. As far as the planks being damaged in...
  17. Suggestions How Would You Approach This?

Sorry for the double post, but I inadvertently put this in the Premium section. This is a purely hypothetical situation (Edit: No money rides on this. I know what I think is the best way to produce this is already, but I'm interested in how you would handle this because you might have a better...
  18. A Drawing I Did Please Critique

The presentation part was missing from your initial post, hence my notes. Follow up, though... How do your estimators come up with pricing if they don't know the details?
  19. Graphic/logo Designer

You could try the "Resample" feature, but if the artwork isn't any good to start with, you probably won't have much luck. You could vectorize and resize in Flexi or have the customer send you the art with the correct formatting. When they tell you they can't, let them know how much it will cost...
  20. Alternative To Rowmark

I wasn't aware of that. Learned something new today!
