  1. Mimaki JF 1631 Origin Issue

there are only two types of encoder strips out there for printers 150lpi and 180lpi. i'm certain that a generic encoder strip would perform the same as an OEM strip. ...just a laser copy on a strip of PET
  2. New Olive Garden Logo...

it's only a matter of time before the sign reads "OGIR" i think the old one looks way to crafty. new one looks too brunch-ish. both are a bit of a fail.
  3. Liquid Laminates for UV digital print on aluminum

so you will print on raw aluminum the coat with a liquid overlaminate? no way. total failure. if you must print on an aluminum finish, at least use dibond which already has a tested coating over the aluminum so that both your ink and laminate will have something to bind to. liquid clears...
  4. mimaki jv3 spII error 007 head (x_ _ _ _ _ _)

when diagnosing between heads, it's not necessary to screw them into place, just plug them in and tape them to the carriage and let them go for a ride on the carriage on start up. after this you'll need to move to data swaps to isolate between the head and the slider board ports.
  5. Getting the old JV3 running (head alignment

i'd send us a pic of that test print. in my experience, continued cleaning to "save" dx4 heads destroys them. the blurriness you are seeing might be evidence of that.
  6. ONYX Postershop 7 (size constrain issue)

no. it's from the user manual pdf. i screen capped it. i added the red circle/arrow.
  7. ONYX Postershop 7 (size constrain issue)

...i'm having an issue with the horizontal scaling/calibration being off. don't think i've ever had a horizontal calibration on any printer. it's supposed to be locked to the encoder strip.
  8. ONYX Postershop 7 (size constrain issue)

argh. thanks. so what do the locks do?
  9. Horizontal Scaling on rastek/daytona

funny you should ask. struggling with that one right now. would love to close out this day knowing i'm ready to go tomorrow. http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?114236-ONYX-Postershop-7-%28size-constrain-issue%29
  10. ONYX Postershop 7 (size constrain issue)

i need to alter the width of the printed image. when i get to "Preview and Size" tab. i see little locks next to "Width", "Height", and "Magnification". i need to constrain the height, but slightly compress the width. i've calculated that i need to compress it .996%. when i hit "apply" i...
  11. SignVox for a brand new shop?

if it fits your model yes. a start up needs all the "professionalism" it can get to get credibility. it might pay for itself as well when new clients are judging your new business. i particularly like the calendar aspect of it. my startup a few years back, didn't go with signvox and we had...
  12. Horizontal Scaling on rastek/daytona

i think i have experienced this. just didn't have an explanation for it. ended up always scaling the rip file by 102.5% (or something) one direction after giving up on the calibration side. i'll do a few tests to see if a percentage will effect accurately the measurement across the gantry...
  13. roland printhead meltdown (as in smoke)!

any time, sending off boards for repair, it's best to send both. macmedia is a super honest company. they'll depending on the damage, they'll repair one, both, or neither if they check out as good. you can often see the damage looking closely, sometimes not.
  14. More Flatbed info, please!

i prefer to cut first and print second for many projects. you don't get quite the speed of or yield out of the process but there's usually less risk involved if you are concerned about the edge of the ink chipping out due to the cnc bit. if it is acrylic, this may cause issues in that you...
  15. roland printhead meltdown (as in smoke)!

in the end, my main board was also toasted. i'd contact macmedia to see if they do board repair on that model. buying new boards is not the way to go.
  16. Horizontal Scaling on rastek/daytona

i'll look at it. it's not stair stepping. but who knows what kind of stops/counting this machine has with servos and such. i don't think i ever recall having the horizontal off on a single printer.
  17. Horizontal Scaling on rastek/daytona

never noticed that my printer is printing wide. (daytona h700) just did a test and it printed a 55" x 55" box results 55" deep exact 55 3/16" wide? how does one adjust the horizontal width? the rip shows no compensation or the firmware window that i can see. thanks! aa
  18. Cleaning boards for UV printing

developed a very odd solution for working with the old CET. instead of attempting to "wipe off" the static, we simple would lay anti-static sheets about every 20 inches or so. in about five to ten minutes, they would draw the static off the sheet. wiping with anything would always cause some...
  19. Rastek. Seriously???

now i'm afraid to turn on my daytona h700. these entries are horrifying. i'll be putting a cleaning valve system on my printer in the next few weeks (have the parts, just too slammed). i'll post the photos of how the mod goes.
  20. Mimaki Jv3 Motherboard

surely there are several closer not requiring international shipping. you might contact macmedia and ask them for a referral. they'll be more in the know of who would be a good source.
