  1. Mimaki Jv3 Motherboard

macmedia may be the most honest diagnostic/repair company i've ever dealt with.
  2. New Logo

i feel horrible saying it. but it's just not good at all. i could critique what could make it better. but the concept is just off, from the name to the graphic to the color/contrast. if it had to be mrprint or mistaprint couldn't it just be a giant mustache with a cmyk gradient filling it...
  3. Omegabond color inconsistency issue.

thank you Reece Supply! shout out to Mike Hovey at Reece Supply!!! he looked at my drops from this project and noticed the faint difference. unfortunately, instead of me getting a sheet that matches side A or B to my sign. the omegabond in stock introduced a third even warmer metal color...
  4. Omegabond color inconsistency issue.

i work with art that employs lots of different reflection angles. i believe the coating is slightly different. one minutely shinier than the other causing it to filter the blue one and not on the other. i'll be digging through scraps and experimenting with how to avoid this. a new sheet plus...
  5. Omegabond color inconsistency issue.

    daylight is even worse. ...grrrr
  6. Omegabond color inconsistency issue.

this one is not cool. i have this 11' x 4' interior sign (a diptych). assembling it and i'm walking around and i'm pretty sure the two sheets don't match at the seam. it's just different enough that this picky client will reject. i didn't use dibond because, dibond brushed metal finish is...
  7. Critique my website

it's not very good. the photography is bad. at least color correct them. the temp is off on all of them, exposure too. and it lacks a dynamic happy "do business with me!" feeling. lose the black, lose the map. put a great (i mean professional) photo of you are your crew from a boom angle...
  8. New cnc buyer - what brand ?

if you google: craigslist, shopbot ...you can find others that are not on the forum. ones that have the 4g upgrade are upgraded old ones. in indiana, probably sold. http://for-sale.yowcow.com/listing/51518195/ http://cedarrapids.en.craigslist.org/tls/4302849243.html...
  9. JV3 Won't Stop "Cycling" - Won't Turn Off

if you turned it off while the pumps were running, or pulled a vacuum at the waste line with a syringe, the next step is to pull the carriage to the left for a few seconds. this will break the syphon between the cap and the head. i had all of my carts go dry, twice, in an hour before i figured...
  10. New cnc buyer - what brand ?

+1 for shopbot as well. there are some very spec'd out used shopbots on talkshopbot on a regular basis. plus, if you track these shopbots, they sell used in no time. you could probably spend $7k to $$9k on a great machine. run the balls off of it for a year. and sell it in two weeks for $7k...
  11. JV3-160SP Weird Head Issue

it's not necessarily if the cap is pulling at all or not, it's how it's pulling. it may not be at fault. as for making sure if it's performing perfectly, you'll need to get the room completely quiet. no ac, no computer fans running, nada. then when you pull the vacuum you should not be able...
  12. JV3-160SP Weird Head Issue

to eliminate if it is the capping station, have a partner press upward on the capping station while pulling a vacuum. also, when you were pulling a vacuum, did you hear a light hiss, or did the syringe seem to not pull with resistance? i'd prove or disprove if it is the capping station before...
  13. Best Primer for MDF?

thanks, i lost my arse on that order. client just kept upgrading and i didn't know what i was getting into (it was my first large custom dyed veneer project). then they complained about the $800 install in quoted. so i accepted $600 and $200 in a gift certificate (the food is amaaaaazing...
  14. Best Primer for MDF?

a single bottle is $19. india ink, and other things are not the same. it's a solvent based dye. it can be thinned with glycol for large area (slow dry), water, alcohol, acetone, etc. this project was done with transtint-ed veneer. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alldredge/sets/72157626473720326/
  15. JV3-160SP Weird Head Issue

yeah. a new head will often need a bit of syringe assist. hope that's all it is.
  16. Best Primer for MDF?

one other tip, you might want to mix the shellac with black transtint. transtint is wood dye. the black is super concentrated. blacking out the edge of mdf gives it a high end look. much more attractive than black pvc. it's almost impossible to paint mdf black because it just sucks it up...
  17. Prinhead cleaner opinions needed

there's a scathing thread on this site discussing this machine. a few very unhappy customers.
  18. JV3-160SP Weird Head Issue

two things, have you drawn a vacuum manually at the waste tube with a syringe (not relying on the underpowered pump. they often have vapor lock that looks similar to this). also, did you use the same head manifold for both heads? a clogged head manifold can leave a blank spot in the middle.
  19. My JV3 has got better!!! Or has it?

saw some used ones for $300ish on ebay recently
  20. My JV3 has got better!!! Or has it?

about "too much"... depends. a 160s is slow (no CMYKx2). in primo running condition that is just below premium pricing.
