  1. Problems with my Mimaki JV3 160 sp ..

you'll need to post pics of the symptoms/prints described. there's a lot of jv3 owners on this board that can read prints like tea leaves.
  2. Colorspan 72UVX: Black ink leaking into carriage?

doesn't it sound like you've got ink down in your head's data port. i'd turn that printer off and take out that head asap to inspect. i had one cyan head not printing (after install). i figured that the ribbon just wasn't seated properly. then i see ink on the ribbon. when you get ink on...
  3. Specifics of JV3-160 SP problems

best way to clean lines is to have a partner continuously pour cleaning solution down the caps while you pull an aggressive vacuum with a syringe form the end of the waste line. you'll need to keep those lines clear of clots or you will be broken down in no time.
  4. File Setup for bitmap white ink. Oce Arizona

for a CET running production house x10 a photoshop channel was created to print the white (inverted "black" equals white ink). double click the channel, a window will come up called "channel options". choose the bottom option "spot color" now name the channel Spot Color 1 (maybe just Spot...
  5. Company truck wrap design - Tear it apart!

ohhhh.. boy-oh-boy-oh-boy...... this wrap will drive clients AWAY from your business. i'd at least hire a professional designer for something that is so crucial to your company image.
  6. PRINTHEADSITE.com

we should start a thread someday that lists all chinese suppliers that we've had good results with. from what i've read, indonesia is full of not just faux print supply site but faux everything imaginable sites. we are just exposed to the printer parts world.
  7. New DX5 printheads cause a line at 60cm

@xxytoni well said. in the end, desktop dx5 will be decoded and we'll pay some genius $300 for a chip that goes somewhere on the data ribbon and it will all be over. if we can put a man on the moon, we can hack a dx5's logic whatever.
  8. New DX5 printheads cause a line at 60cm

epson is a horrible company. for years we've been fed the myth of OEM mimaki, roland, etc. all just the same head they were putting in a desktop printer. i got a dx4 head unit (three heads bound together) and each head had, stacked perfectly on top of each other, an epson head rank, then a...
  9. Clear Coat over UV Ink

did you figure out the adhesion promoter solution? from your last pm i wasn't sure it was being applied correctly. also, if you could name the actual printer/ink used your signs are printed with that would open up better technical discussion. also, take photos of the peeling, your spray set...
  10. Specifics of JV3-160 SP problems

the pumps are pretty easy to rebuild. all they need is a fresh "pump tube" in the middle to be replaced which will act as a new bladder (it's a peristaltic pump). the hard part is keeping track off all the bits and pieces. for some reason aftermarked pumps don't work very well. in the end, i...
  11. Printhead source Seiko Colorpainter 64s

clogged km512's can be saved with NMP as a cleaner. i saved 6 heads that were deemed "dead/clogged" using it.
  12. JV3 160sp "Set Cartridge"

they are color sensitive. if you have no time to waste, do some surgery on your main board by taking out the battery. it will set the date of your printer back to 2001 (leaving everything else in place) and all cartridge from now on can not possibly expire. or yank the magenta cart chip off...
  13. Clear coat issue

yes. the CET series 49 ink left a very non stick surface. not a problem until you wanted to coat it. it was like painting a milk jug. spray bull dog adhesion promoter on them. just a light mist. wait 20 minutes then spray with your clear. after a while you have "open time" issues. i...
  14. Specifics of JV3-160 SP problems

cease and desist. from reading your first entry, you are probably going to do about $3000 in damage before you accomplish what is probably a $30 repair. ...not being rude here. read lots of threads on this site about things like damper swap, data swap, dampers in general. one drip of ink...
  15. Printer Recommendation Needed - Kid's Room Wall Art

this message board is 99% for the signage industry. if you want to read extensively about waterbased printers i'd go to: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?board=6.0 there will be very many hp vs epson vs canon discussions.
  16. CET white ink questions.

good to hear. white, if run often in a flatbed can be a dependable color. i think white worked better in hour CET than color. maybe because we were getting those heads really hot and didn't require the fidelity that cmyk does. who knows. it flowed really well regardless.
  17. Printer Recommendation Needed - Kid's Room Wall Art

for a beginner getting into the print world, epson just doesn't compete as a plug-n-play printer. it's got the straight path, true. but then the path is downward. very hard to exploit. i've taken advantage of straight path printers to a great extent to the point of having a 20'x5' air table...
  18. Printer Recommendation Needed - Kid's Room Wall Art

don't go with an epson waterbased. canon beat them out years ago with the IPF series. and now HP has beat canon out with it's new Z series. brand loyalty is the only reason someone still buys an epson waterbased printer. i've owned just about everything over the last 15 years and when i...
  19. How to become a designer without going to school...

i was the creative director (self taught) over two design grads ($100,000 in education each). it started off a bit contentious with them doing the "that's not how to do it" routine. in the end, i'd converted them to my layout and design style in photoshop. i feel school was a detriment to...
  20. JV3 issues with losing position

have you inspected your encoder strip? a strip going bad (scratch, drop of ink) will cause it to drift to the right. drifting to the left and or right, or left only, has to be the encoder reader. also drifting violently to the right will be encoder reader. yours looks like it's getting pretty...
