Your answer is "what paint will stick to the substrate?" Because ablating it away is not the problem, but making sure the stuff left behind does not fall off in use. Metal primers, wood primers... do your homework. Krylon is a very specific chemical concoction, made to have superior properties...

7725 lasts phenomenally well. I've had signs out in the full weather since the year 2000, in orange and green, and they still look ok.

I have the Print inst file for version 12.05, for the L26500, but it's 349 meg. (Not version 10 though.) Surely you can still download it from HP ?

It looks to me like it was inspired or based on BT Arrus - the font! (I've drawn and painted it enough times to recognise those uneven top serifs...)

The advantages in using cut vinyl on OTHER substrates is longevity, especially if using cast vinyl. I did some local Landcare signs in 1999 here, using 3M 7725 cast vinyl. 21 years later in full sun all day they still look good, and not appreciably faded. The local council did some in...

I've used E-cut for some 8-10 years, and find it very useful, especially for lasering in acrylic. It's great. Of course it won't nest a file in which all shapes are grouped or compounded- that translates as one item. They need to be separated to be able to be moved by the software.

Thanks. I have 2 spare ink buckets, just bought 3 head cleaning paper roll cartridges, and still have 28 ink cartridges, and about 8 heads, and bought 1 belt, so I need to get more life from it !
