  1. Cut & Drop Reconsidered - new vans

I typically employ the leaching technique on those recesses along with thorough post heating. I occasionally cut and drop. I haven't had any lifting problems so far. at wrapinstitute.com he has 6 videos on recessed areas that address several types.
  2. SP540V won't print black

+1...but If only black is not printing...assuming the pump lines are split between the 4 caps...it's not the pump. Prob not damper if already replaced. I'd bet it's #5
  3. Collecting Final Payment

Add in the contract a 2.9% late fee for every month there is a balance (pro-rated daily of course) and every time you resend them the invoice...note how much extra it's costing them. As long as they signed the contract, you're good. As for small claims court and recovering your money with a lien...
  4. Solo Cold Laminator by Daige reviews?

Daige is not new. My first laminator was a Daige. I replaced a roller (rubber slipped on edges due to apparently uneven tension which may or may not have been my fault for not operating it correctly) and plastic bands that hold the tension (they loosen in time). I still use mine, not for...
  5. Help with manual maintenance on VP-540

Worst case scenario, move it manually with it turned off. Do your cleaning, then turn it on and see if it brings it back to home position on it's own. Just move it SLOWLY. You have to push it to the right first if it's in home position locked...to unlock the mechanism.
  6. 3MIJ180Cv3 Is anyone else having a problem with the vinyl?

Yes it's more aggressive now. As for the channels locking bubbles in, it's because the air an only travel in one direction from the squeegee down the channel rather than in multiple directions. That doesn't happen with the V1. The backing being difficult to remove depends on the direction you...
  7. Need help w/ roland sp300v printing (pics inside)

yeah, high quality got rid of the banding...but the overspray is still there as that is probably from static.
  8. Ford Fusion Total Square footage?

LOL similar thing this morning. Used car dealership wanted a price on a 4'x40' banner. Gave her price and she said she already got a quote elsewhere for $175 less. I said "wow...that sounds like a better deal then." and let her go. Now she calls saying she needs to go with us because she "can't...
  9. Please help! wrap print distorted (puckered?) prior to laminating

Before reprinting..try to make the tension really tight while laminating.
  10. Need help w/ roland sp300v printing (pics inside)

It's not the dampers. All of your prints look like they are slightly banding from what I see...so do a high quality print. On the black overspray, I'm with the folks who thinks it's static.
  11. A couple new fonts I recently designed.

Top one looks like the Star Trek Font and the bottom one looks just like 5 other western fonts. Just sayin
  12. Ford Fusion Total Square footage?

If they are dead in winter...$1800 for that isn't too crazy. I just did a set of 4 of them for 2k each for a dealership. Excluded most of the front bumpers, mirrors, and handles though. Did 4 of the earlier model for that same dealership a few years ago for 1800 each. So...this time around I...
  13. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

If I was a proficient installer I wouldn't settle for an hourly wage anywhere near $17.50 plus bennies if I could wrap a vehicle in 12 hours alone. (that's only $210) when I could wrap one as a freelancer for $600 in the same amount of time. Of course...there's the whole steady work issue and...
  14. Hello from Columbus Ohio

Welcome from So Cal moved to Kentucky. Watch lots of videos, take a hands on class, and practice, practice, practice, on a vehicle if you have one.
  15. Ford Fusion Total Square footage?

I'm sure this will annoy you but... Why do you need the square footage of that vehicle for pricing? Less sq. footage doesn't always mean less price. A tiny sports car with crazy curves may be the same price as a Box Truck twice it's size in sq. footage. There is such a large difference between...
  16. 3M wrap aggressive vinyl problem - Roland Versacamm VP540

We still prefer V1 over V3 for this reason as well. Not 100% sure but it seemed to be that V3 was more aggressive even on unprinted (white) areas. Also the linear egress channels don't allow air to escape as well as the cross hatch pattern does. It's shallower and throws air down in...
  17. 3M or Avery

Really? $100 difference between 3M and Avery is the hangup? I'm not going to say which is better but I'll detail my working knowledge of them. •Avery has much lower initial tack than the rest...but the Air egress channeling in it combined with the blue glass plates on the adhesive surface that...
  18. Wraptacular

For the record...I neither endorse that special nor do I practice it. I was only showing how (IF) they were small etc...and starving to make it through the hard winter...it would do just that.
  19. Wraptacular

I'll play devils advocate here. Let's assume it's a 1 or 2 person shop. •Design is labor and they could do good design for a reasonable price. •Avery Wrap vinyl & Lam is NOT 2nd grade vinyl. •Installer could be the owner & very good •Print could look great coming off a great printer •Laminated...
  20. Hows my time?

Makes me want to cray seeing a seem so dang close to the edge of the door (in handle photo) As for your 24 hour install (in, prep, install, out) for 1 person...compared to how much they should be making per wrap...should not be a problem. you say 3-4 a month...that's not a high volume shop...
