  1. 2016 Pittsburgh World of Wheels

This is usually the time of year when I post about the upcoming World of Wheels show in Pittsburgh. While it will still be on tap this year at the usual time, the group of artists to which I belong, The High Scrollers, will not be attending. Last year we brought in $23,000 for the...
  2. Engineer Grade white reflective Vinyl for plotting

I run very small vinyl (15" or 24" max) I have usually only cut Scotchlite (3M) reflective. I tried Oracal reflective one time and hated it, and before the Avery fiasco, I used a good amount of that (then discovered it all delaminated) I think it's better to spend a little more for ease of...
  3. Am I the only one?

Always. I can't stand when people don't take the time to tweak things like this, even on a plain old FOR SALE sign. It's going that extra step to make your work stand out. I even draw my own things or rebuild using parts of other fonts. Love....Jill
  4. What's the best material for a shaped aluminum sign

I would cut a mask on my plotter, apply it to b-bond from Glantz (a little over $50 a sheet but no ribs) Cut it CAREFULLY with a new blade in your jigsaw (cuts like butter) Rasp the edges (you may need touch-up paint) It's OK to mount as described with just a phrase on the back. Love....Jill...
  5. What is the best chemical for removing vinyl and glue?

Rapid Remover has always worked the best for me. I once tried Goof-Off and it started to remove the paint on the vehicle. Love...Jill
  6. Painting or graphics on Aspahlt

You can also get really nice custom stencils made. (but I can't remember the website!) I know I've posted it before on this forum. Buy them (they are reusable) use the correct paint, and you can get to re-do the job every few years when the markings get too grungy. No biggie. Love....Jill
  7. Lettering Options and Help

I prefer the welded S, Fresh-Picked, and puhlease...please add a serif to the other side of those Ps. It would balance it so much better. Love....Jill
  8. Car dealer stickers

I would sub those out to a company such as Stouse. Not sure if there is a CanEHdian equivalent. Love....Jill
  9. Probably hand painted, need one that's close

It was probably done with a Stabilo and a yardstick many moons ago. Easy to knock out by hand in about 15 minutes. Love....Jill
  10. Hello from Marienville, PA

Hi. I am a traditional sign painter from Butler PA. I can't help you, because I am not good with machines, but figured I'd give you a bump. If your students ever want to see a demonstration of hand lettering, give me a holler. I love Cook's Forest. Jill
  11. A Damn shame..

Too bad it could not have been donated to the American Sign Museum in Cincy. You like retro...you NEED to see this place. Love....Jill
  12. Old metal sign restoration: method, materials, how much to charge

Whatever you do...do not use 1 Shot. Try Ronan, I'd use their bulletin enamels. Love....Jill

D'oh! I have it already :Big Laugh

  15. Font ID pretty please?

  16. HDU carved sign with stained glass

Love it. (My dad took me to the theater to see that movie when I was 16)
  17. All American Outdoors...

Can't wait to see it all done. Looks fantastic so far. Love....Jill
  18. Hand-painted work truck.

The only thing I can say is to try Novacolors paint next time. It's an acrylic, and it outlasts and outperforms 1Shot to the max. And also, if you're not doing anything the last weekend of this July, come to the Walldog mural event I am helping to host in Butler, PA! There will be a distillery...
  19. Hand-painted work truck.

Thanks so much. Spent 6 hours today peeling off all the old crap on the van that this replaced (they are selling it) I didn't letter that one. I used to do all of their stuff until they found someone cheaper. I am so glad they learned to appreciate something more than just typed out slapped on...
  20. Lost my colors in X5 again!
