  1. Shop logo attempt

I'll just do a few pokes with a sharp stick :ROFLMAO: None of those look much like a logo, and a logo should never have a ton of bullet points and a phone number too. Of your attempts, the bottom has the most potential, but the colors are too colorful  and the "Signs" lettering looks...
  2. new caddy designs for our company

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. That refers to a dog licking itself, but also water droplets and mediocre typography. Your bizname is very vague to start with. The "stuff" you've put into that wrap, as others have said, make me think of a refreshing can of cold beer or a dip...
  3. bad customer vent.

The kids will get over it. But they sure as heck won't get into his vehicle.
  4. walk the customer or do it their way

It depends. If I do end up taking the job, I never show anyone. If they are a pain to work with, I can smell that before I quote, and I quote very high. That relieves the sting of rejection. If they are really a jerk, I tell them I am too busy and refer them to the lowballers. Every once in...
  5. Best vinyl / printing method for plastic chemical bottles?

I just finished a month as a temp in a bleach factory. They just use printed paper labels applied with like an old-fashioned hot glue which melts in a tank. Even for pool shock. For laundry detergent, they use adhesive backed printed labels, but those bottles were ran through a flame treater...
  6. bad customer vent.

Yup I would print FORTY childrens' hand in rude gestures, stick them on the van in the night, and write it off as a lesson learned. I'd also add in a few scary monster faces and other things that would make kids cry. :Big Laugh NEVER even turn on your computer without a deposit, even for...
  7. Egads, but that's cheap......................................

Sounds like the d!ckhead lowballer from my county must have moved East. Remember, he would do a 4'x8' d/s alumalite, installed, for $250. And as for people shopping prices, many do it regardless of what you quote. This is exactly why signs are now my "hobby". Love....Jill
  8. How do I make this look less like clip art.

I think your guy looks fine. He could do with some etched-look shading. The typography, as has been said, is kind of iffy to me. What Maniac did, by incorporating the guy as an icon in the centerpiece of a shaped sign, would be the way to go. Love....Jill
  9. Our company van wrap design - Go ahead, tear it apart

RJ, no offense, but that looks like an autopsied ribcage revealing the lungs.
  10. Evolution of a Logo...

Wow. You made him a nice gourmet dinner. He made you add Stove Top Stuffing to it. Now he's serving up last week's leftovers. Some people are c*nts. Love....Jill
  11. Our company van wrap design - Go ahead, tear it apart

I agree about the need of something smooth behind the logo, as has been suggested. Also agree with website vs. phone number. What bugs the hell out of me in your logo is that Pro looks really awkward. I dislike the large P because it makes the RO look weird and kinda smashy/disproportionate...
  12. A lesson in logo design...

It also has a modern, almost graceful feel to it. I didn't see the wineglass! Very clever. Sometimes people want you to blend a lot of elements into something with disasterous results, but this is nice. Love....Jill
  13. Font hayulp puhleese!

Thank you. Close is good enough as this will be hand-painted. Any ideas on the bottom font? I was thinking Tiffany-ish or something.
  14. Precision Board...What primer?

If memory serves, my good friend (and 101 member) Karyn Bush had a nightmare with Precision Board primer bubbling up after installing a very pricey routed sign, and she had to strip it and repaint. I think I'd opt for the Zinsser. Love....Jill
  15. All I've been doing.... (A sign designers late night rant)

It's still better than what I've been doing for 3 weeks, temping at a bleach factory for $9/hr graveyard shift 10 hours a night! Love....Jill
  16. Font hayulp puhleese!

Whut the heyull are these things? :thankyou::signs101: Love....Jill
  17. Hello from Pittsburgh

Hello from 20 miles north. I was born in Pittsburgh and this is my 30th year in the trade, which has been on the downslide these past 8 years or so. I am gradually switching to small custom painted signs and logo design only. Signs will be merely a hobby. I'm hosting the Walldog meet in Butler...
  18. Office Phone vs Cell Phone

I had a land line for the first 25 years here. It was nice because you got a free local YP listing too. I always thought a land line looked better to a client than a cell phone, but now everyone uses their cell, so I think that's a moot point. My house is for sale and I disconnected the land...
  19. Wrecker service truck lettering

Bottom left, city name in Chesham. It's inappropriate to use two different scripts in the same layout.
  20. Hand Routed Sign

Looks good to me. I like the distressed effect you achieved on the lettering! Love....Jill
