You charge more for the Benz because of the liability. Let's just say something goes wrong and the paint is damaged. The fix is going to be much cheaper on a normal car than a luxury car.
It's standard and normal in most industries that the more expensive the item, the more expensive the...
If you're that busy, I'd hire 2-3 people per position. Give them each 2-3 days a week with some overlap. After a couple of weeks you should have a pretty good idea who you want to keep and who you want to get rid of.
As for the application process, I would never ask someone to jump through...
In the future you could make these yourself and save a good bit of money. $175 or less gets you a 4x8 sheet. I'd also strongly recommend in the future specing the job out differently. You're not going to get 4 panels out of a 4x8 without undersizing the panels slightly. If I'm selling...
To make the most effective sign for a new business, emphasizing what it is is more important than emphasizing the name.
If I'm driving down the road and I see "NEXT LEVEL" with something underneath it, I have no clue what that business is.
Your pricing model is flawed because you're not accounting for the time it took to make the sale happen and all of the admin work that goes with it.
Also I bet if you put a timer on the process, start to finish, your estimate would be off by 25% minimum.
With banners you have two options.
1. Charge a "market" rate for them and sub them out.
2. Charge an above market rate and do them in house.
Ultimately, the smart companies do both depending on the situation.
As for your pricing, that's what I would charge + shipping from the wholesaler +...
I'm really surprised no one has said invest in a laminator. If you're not going to buy a printer, you might as well buy the laminator so that you're not having to re-buy prints you screw up, which will happen when doing them by hand, especially starting out.

You have to understand that in order to implement these systems, you're going to have to invest some capital and go through the growing pains. There's a cost to knowing where everything is at any moment. It costs time and money but...
Latex DTM paint is a fantastic product. Think of it as a happy medium between a standard latex and an enamel.
It also sticks really well to just about anything.
I just want to correct this statement. Let's just assume a 3-4 employee sign shop bringing in $500k in sales where the owner/operator brings home about 90k. They're only bringing in 90k because they're the owner AND the operator. If you decided to shift the business around to become an...
You're not going to find too many absentee owner sign shops. It's just not that common in the industry and if they do exist, they aren't posting on a sign forum most likely.
If your goal is to become essentially an absentee owner, you need to hire people to replace you, which means lowering...
Go to your local trophy/engraving shop and ask them to laser cut you some blanks out of acrylic. I'd personally recommend buying the material and bringing it to them. 1/8" acrylic is what you want. 12x24 is the standard size but ask what size laser they have before buying. You might get...
Why not buy PVC Fence post instead of the sleeve? It's designed for what you're looking for and you won't need to screw around with painting pressure treated wood.
Also, don't go 12" deep. It's not deep enough. Go 24". You're just asking for trouble if you go shallow.
Azek makes all sorts of different PVC products. Their sheet product is just cellular PVC that is similar to Komacel or any of the other brands.
In a pinch I've bought the trim boards from Home Depot when I didn't feel like buying another full sheet of 1" Komacel. It was fine.
The 1/2" sheet...
I'm not making a box or needing a bend. I'm literally just engraving a logo into brushed aluminum ACM. The issue is I was planning on using epoxy with the impression it stuck to anything and found out shortly after it does not.
I was going to follow Tim's method exactly: Peel the stock slip...
Working on a project where I'm trying to replicate the look of an etched aluminum sign with using brushed aluminum ACM. The big catch is the etched element needs to be colors other than black.
Any tricks or products I can use to paint the black polyethylene?
Komacel is used all the time in the carved/dimensional sign world.
You need to hang the sign. Don't mount it. Allow it to expand and contract. I'd also avoid the vinyl and go with paint but that's your call. Vinyl is a lot faster as you don't have to worry about dry time. Painting a panel...
This is one of those cases where there's a lot of gray area but at the same time, the law is also pretty clear. You create it. You own the rights to that creation. the buyer owns the item. You can transfer the rights. That's your decision, but it doesn't automatically transfer unless...
