  1. Who's selling / printing stage's backdrop in Canada?

Try imaged advertising creations in Toronto, they do wholesale sublimation, ask for Shabry.
  2. O.3169GRA for Latex printing

what's the application, the 40c is a higher end material than the 3169, but for day to day stuff it should be fine. I always equated the 40c with 3551 in terms of quality.
  3. New Guy New Member Checking In..

Wrapping is a skill that takes time to master, lots of time! Signing up for a course will shorten the learning curve a bit and may end up saving you money vs. buying a bunch of material and messing around, but in the end it's up to you. If you would like to try wrapping on different cars, you...
  4. Ready to Buy- Advice on Roland VG or SG?

In versaworks Duel, under the Quality tab, try changing the halftone setting to "Dither" by default it's "Error Diffusion" this fixed our slow rip speeds issue.
  5. Year end bonuses?

I'm not sure how it works in the states, but where i'm from it would be classified as income for the employee, and the employee must claim it on their tax return, regardless of if it was claimed as an expense by the employer or not. I'm not saying it's not common practice or even that i've...
  6. Year end bonuses?

I'm shocked that someone who is so "by the books" as you come off as being would be so nonchalant about committing tax evasion...
  7. Ready to Buy- Advice on Roland VG or SG?

We have the VG, and haven't noticed a huge increase in the amount of ink we go through, however I don't believe the 30% ink savings that roland claims, if anything is uses a bit more ink than our old VS. One think to keep in mind is that the VG and SG both use a cleaning fluid cartridge that...
  8. Exterior Lighted SIgn Box

ESA is the Electrical Safety Authority, might be an Ontario thing, they are the body that certifies electrical work is done to code and issues electrical permits.
  9. Exterior Lighted SIgn Box

We ordered some LED snap frames for a client that were meant to be ESA approved, when we gave them to the client to install, he noticed there were no stickers on them, the manufacturer can't just ship us the stickers to apply even though they claim they were tested and passed. In the end we had...
  10. Have a VG540 coming in this week.. how to set up the inks?

No you are correct, the printer uses the same amount of ink, there is a small reduction in speed when going to 7 colour I believe though.
  11. Have a VG540 coming in this week.. how to set up the inks?

The vg is exactly the same machine as the sg except for speed and the included take up on the vg, so there will be no difference in printing grey between these 2 printers.
  12. Eco-Solvent Sugestions?

We got a new Roland vg640, it uses the tru-vis ink and I've noticed a big improvement in drying times and scratch resistance vs our old Roland running Eco so max ink
  13. Unconditioned Space - Okay or Not?

If possible, create a separate room for the printer and media, get a large window or portable a/c unit to look after cooling, and a small electric heater for the winter. Our shop isn't air conditioned, but we have a small window a/c and it helps a lot.
  14. Back light car door?

Something like this might work, no idea on the cost. ZeroNine - Digitel Vinyl - Digitally Print your Graphics
  15. Suggestions HP Latex vs Mutoh

We have a VG-640 and as far as I know the take up itself is exactly the same it's the TU-2 unit. we havn't had any issues with it at all, the odd time if I'm not paying attention when I load it it can wander a bit, but never enough to cause any issues. When ours was being installed, I asked...
  16. Suggestions HP Latex vs Mutoh

I don't remember bashing the Latex technology, I honestly think it's cool, I toyed around with the idea of buying a 360 but ended up getting the VG-640 instead. What I have an issue with is every thread about solvent vs. latex you seem to invent issues with the solvent machines in order to make...
  17. Suggestions HP Latex vs Mutoh

Yes it's so difficult that thousands of shops do it every day with no issues, honestly the misinformation you spread on here about solvent vs. latex is getting ridiculous. In 10+ years of running a Roland, I've had 1 instance where the print wasn't dry enough by the time it hit the take up to...
  18. 4x8 Pan Faces

in this scenerio, the cost of living wouldn't make a big difference, he only accounted for 2 hours ( 1 hour travel and 1 hour install), so 2 hours of labour is going to be a drop in the bucket in this example, at most a $50 dollar difference.
  19. 4x8 Pan Faces

While that is true to an extent, cost of living is different all around the country, things like supplies and such are not, a roll of 3m IJ180 costs the same from fellers in new york and kansas, there may be a small difference in labour costs as well, but nothing earth shattering, the real...
  20. 4x8 Pan Faces

A couple questions: 1. Do you have any experience removing or installing pan faces? You estimate 1 hour to remove and reinstall 2 faces, I think you are going to be surprised. 2. How do you plan to access the faces 15 feet up in the air? You really should use some type of lift, Pan faces...
