Why don't you try a paper pattern on your Summa to see if its accurate. Put a larger sheet like a 5x10 of substrate over your 4x8 mdf that wont scratch your film.
I think if you route the panels you should clear coat them, the print does tend to chip at least from what I noticed. We did these panels and printed on ACM turned out nice after we applied a satin clear coat they were broken into pan faces.
Main reason is if you don't or have limited access behind and don't want to have any power supply boxes or raceways exposed but you will still need to run your main plus it will make your install lighter.
You got that right Gino, you should be able to get 18 x 24 d/f full color yard signs for around $3 bucks. You are probably better of buying them out and putting a decent mark up. Unless you are doing thousands of them or have a few extra bucks why not.
Small sign shops use per up right inch price or per sq. for cabinets and sign faces. You know when someone calls and asks for up right in cost. Customers don't even know what that means. Every job is unique in this industry.

You have to make sure they are UL, if that matters to you and warranty, but yes they are expensive. You will be seen more of them in malls and higher end stores.
Hello blufftonsignguy, they are similar but I don't think the same people make them. We have use the Resno letters before they are nice. They are imported so lead time is always an issue. I think they are 4-5 weeks. Steel art also make them or you can try making them yourself. We have made a few...
Visiul88, you are probably right or polycarbonate. We normally put a seem after the first 4' If you go with 3m trans a seem is standard 3/16" overlap should be fine if not go with flexface and printed it.
If it's vector already you should be able to open it and ready to go, I don't see why you need to separate it or convert it to outlines can you show us what it is.
I agree with Gino on the .125 aluminum backer minimum, for attachment we would weld an angle on top /bottom and bolt to beam, leave a few letters off to install the panel to screw to beam and cover with letters afterwards and if those options don't fly come up with a bracket attachment system...
