  1. Isopropyl Alcohol

We buy 70% from a Nail salon supply place in Virginia that has a truck that delivers locally to North Carolina every other week. We pay $35 for 4-1gallon jugs. One of my best friends owns the salon so they just order it for me. But the place in Virginia is called Skyline Nail Supply.
  2. colors arent coming out true on my printer

Ok, I'll bite. First is the test print coming out complete and colors are all firing correctly? Next is it some colors or all color? I am guessing you are using canned profiles? Have you done any searches on here for color theory or custom profiles? What software you designing in, and what...

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I appreciate all the insights to the designs
  4. Another Neato logo design, and I need some feedback!

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the feedback so far. Surf's up haha
  5. Another Neato logo design, and I need some feedback!

So we were wanting to redo our logo, and decided to go with Phillip at Sign Amigo for some help. It's always hard working on your own stuff. Below is our current logo, and a few sketches Phillip put together for something new. I just want to get some opinions on these and see what others...
  6. How to print deep red on reflective

    What rip are you using?
  7. Man hours for wraps? Mini Vans, Pickups, Cargos

Wrap only, not including prep and cleaning time, and with 1 guy here is pretty much what we average Cargo vans no roof 4-5 Pickup trucks 4-6 Sprinters, depending on which type 7-10 Mini Van 5-7 Most cars 5-6
  8. Anyone here wrapped helmets with this process before?

We have done it with the Avery 1005 ez rs with the dol 1460 lam. Turned out great, just design accordingly.
  9. Reflective Wraps

3M makes the reflective with air egress but it does show the channels like the original IJ180. Oracal to my knowledge does not make an air egress reflective, but does have it in a cast. Both are thicker vinyls, so you have to be careful on compound curves, it will not conform as well as like a...
  10. Got the XR-640 installed today!

That is from the uv inhibitors in the laminate, if you profile your material with the laminate on it, you can almost eliminate that color shift
  11. Got the XR-640 installed today!

The printer itself without the stand is 25" deep. The stand is about 30 1/2" deep. You could move each piece in on its own, then assemble. I wouldn't think its 400lbs. Two pretty strong guys with good backs could lift up each side, but not for a long distance or anything.
  12. Got the XR-640 installed today!

We don't typically do contour cutting on print/cut over about 7 feet unless no other option. But the longest print/cut we've attempted on the xr so far has only been about 5 feet and it was perfect.
  13. Boat Wrapping

Not much different than wrapping anything else. We wrap a lot of boats, 2 just this week. Definitely do in 1 piece on each side, I have seen some done in panels. We have used Arlen, Avery, 3M, and oracal. I would not suggest using the Avery 1005 ez RS, it never seems to tack up enough. The...
  14. Got the XR-640 installed today!

I print with versaworks. I use all custom profiles, our wraps are 720x720, and general signage at 540x720. Occasionally we do high speed banners at 540x360
  15. What do you charge?

That's a pretty general question. Depends on what your market will pay honestly. Some areas (lucky ones) get up to $14 a sq foot. Other areas get as low as $7. I suggest not low balling people, but offer a great product at a fair market price, and sell your workmanship and professionalism...
  16. Got the XR-640 installed today!

We just got the metallics installed on Friday. They are looking pretty nice. I shot one video and some pics of it, but the video I will have to edit down some. I'll try and maybe get that loaded up this weekend if I can get some free time.
  17. Why does Roland continue to release updates?

The updates typically are new profiles for media, recently with the pantone color conversions and such. Make sure you only have your printer and inkset checked, so you are not wasting time downloading profiles you do not need. The firmware isn't updated through that, only versaworks...
  18. Unrolling backing from laminator

We have the seal base 62, we use a core on the backing paper roller. We put a rubber band around the plastic roller first and then slide the core over it. It holds it in place and keeps it tight.
  19. Vinyl Bunching Up?

Another thing you can do is take a piece of masking tape, and tape over all the vacuum holes that the media does not cover. This will create a strong vacuum under the media to help hold it down
  20. Vinyl Bunching Up?

I would try pre feeding it, and using media flanges. That usually helps a lot
