  1. Getting a new computer

I'm sure they're great computers but seems like overkill for what he's needing.
  2. Does anyone use the CADTool 5 macro for Corel?

I've been using Corel draw since high school (almost 25 years) and it never ceases to amaze me what it can do.
  3. Does anyone use the CADTool 5 macro for Corel?

Well that's pretty sweet! It works! I might try to play with it a bit to adjust the font size and style. Thanks a ton!
  4. Does anyone use the CADTool 5 macro for Corel?

    Yep, I sure do
  5. Does anyone use the CADTool 5 macro for Corel?

Wow, cool. What do I do with the code? (I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff) :)
  6. Does anyone use the CADTool 5 macro for Corel?

It's faster to add dimensions to an object and creates nicer looking lines IMO. What macro are you using?
  7. Does anyone use the CADTool 5 macro for Corel?

I recently purchased the CADTool 5 macro. I love the idea of it, but I'm getting varied results with the dimension tool. I have the settings set to US Architectural, but it seems to choose shapes to revert to Fractional mode. Sometimes only with one side of the object. It's a bummer because I...
  8. Dimension Tool Settings

I forgot to say thanks for the help on this. I still haven't gotten the settings to work, there's a glitch with my program. I may need to do a fresh install. :(
  9. CorelDraw: Combine Tool

It might be easier when that happens to just convert to a bitmap with a transparent background, then apply your gradient transparency. I can't think of too many scenarios where a bitmap wouldn't work just fine.
  10. Sign Designing - Quote of the day...

I always wondered why people didn't like me. So glad to have Signs101! :)
  11. Sign Designing - Quote of the day...

Darn, now I don't know what to tell people when they ask what I do for a living. That might possibly be the dumbest thing I've seen posted on this forum... oh, wait....nah.
  12. A fun colaboration...

Nothing gives me more satisfaction that designing for a shop that has the skills to bring it to life. This was a colaboration with Marty from Hill Mountain Signworks in Petosky, MI. I did the design and Marty took it from there and brought it to life. Marty is a master craftsman and has his...
  13. Cut vinyl

Hi Mark. It depends on what kind of work you're going after and what your volume is. I've always been a low volume sign maker and have always used a 24" and it's been fine if you're ok paneling larger jobs here and there. If I was a large volume vinyl shop and was in the market for a cutter...
  14. ACM Installation on Wall

It is in trend, just not with sign shops that limit themselves to printers and cutters. I've never personally painted a wall graphic/sign, but I would have tackled it in this case as simple as this art is and as nice a surface the wall is.
  15. Sad news, read about Bob Stephens (Sign Maniac) in the newest Signcraft

Wow, that is sad news. Super talented guy. He was one of the designers I admired when I first started out in the business.
  16. Sign Designing - Quote of the day...

“A physician has the responsibility to heal and a sign designer has the responsibility to guide. Usually, physicians have no interference by others, contrary to the dilemma faced by sign designers, who most often seem to have an uninvited committee hovering over them. That notwithstanding, sign...
  17. Sign repair

I think the first questions should be: How high is this thing hanging? How heavy is it?
  18. Question Need to scale my business

Gotta love the condescending responses to a guy asking a serious question. If he would have said 7 figures, would you have been impressed enough then?
  19. Nice Office Door Sign - Need some suggestions...

Holy schmoly. Can I just come and work with you for a couple weeks? Those drawings are pro. And I do need a hobby, I ready the whole thing. I'm also saving them and studying them so I can improve my presentation drawings a bit more. It's a side of design I really need to work on. Do you really...
