If your firmware is current...ink and heads new...(I hope you agitate the ink cartridge before installing) I would look at two other possibilities...verify your electricity. And Imead at the breaker box, while printing. 220 is supposed to be more stable, but if the power to your printers...
Check and update the printer firmware and make sure versaworks is up to date. Set a static IP address on both the printer and computer...make sure wireless adapter settings are disabled on laptop...
It's a pressurized system...did anyone try to change a cartridge without telling the printer? This turns your cartridge into a blow fish...you may have ink in your air tube...that could cause this problem..look at the ink tubes entering the carriage at the left...are they all filled with ink...

Give your rip a file with the most possible color and then have your rip convert it to CMYK one time...build your files and work in RGB (after all that's what your screen is producing) and have your Rip convert to CMYK (thats' what it does) may give you a little more consistency and overall...

are you using onyx? onyx may default to lower resolution output depending on the profile being used...it can do this without you realizing it
go into media manager, select profile and click edit...make sure it defaults to 600dpi in lieu of 300
