We charge $75/hour for work done with one employee but I always question what I should charge for two employees onsite.
I could see charging double ($150/hour), but I also think reducing the rate for the 2nd person may make sense.
How do you handle this?
One of our clients we do other work for has done well in their career and recently purchased an Indy-style race car as one of their newest toys. (pictures below)
They'd like to get a full wrap on the thing and I'm trying to figure out how to go about pricing it.
There are a million curves so...
We're currently doing a job where they want several parts of their car to be wrapped in white, but they don't particularly care what specific shade of white.
Is it okay to use unprinted Avery 1105 for this? Or should we use a more expensive color change white vinyl?
Thanks in advance for your...
Every once in a while we'll be doing an install and when we lift the vinyl to reposition it, the laminate will separate from the vinyl.
Helpful information:
Vinyl Type: Avery 1105
Laminate Type: Avery 1360z
Print: Eco-solvent
We always let jobs degas for 24 hours before laminating
Any advice...
I have no plans to go anywhere for a month.
I asked the question because having the ability to leave for a month is the difference between owning a business and being self-employed.
I was hoping to learn some lessons from those on this board who have been able to turn their sign shop into a...
It's hard to be a know-it-all while I'm here asking people for their advice. I disagree about the things that are and are not possible, but I'm well aware that my knowledge of the industry is limited compared to the industry vets here at Signs101.
We're not going to see eye-to-eye, and that's...
Thank you for offering a glimmer of hope in the face of so much doubt.
I completely agree that people are everything.
In the 16 months I've owned the sign company, I've made my fair share of bad hires but I've weeded them out quickly and the team we have in place now are rockstars. They show...
Fair enough - that's helpful and something to consider.
I agree with you. My goal isn't to be a Signs365, I just want the freedom that comes with a business that runs itself...I don't need a million dollars/year to be happy (or even close to it).
I was able to get to this point with my...
How do you reach your goals if you're not planning for them well in advance? Leave it up to luck?
I make big plans and then I put in the work to reach them...but I've got to know what I'm working toward if I'm ever going to get there.
You guys are fun and I appreciate the challenge. It...
This was a good response and I appreciate you taking the time to think it through and write it out. Thank you.
So it seems I either need to make some big investments to heighten the barriers to entry (this is part of the thought with buying another shop...commercial sign companies have millions...
Me asking the question, "How many of you could leave your shop behind for at least a month and not have any issues?" was not intended to be an implication I was planning to do this in the immediate future.
I was simply trying to ask how many of you have built your businesses to the point where...
I disagree with that wholeheartedly.
I may not know as much about the sign industry as most of you on here, but I know a thing or two about business in general.
If you haven't read it (twice) already, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of The E-Myth.
My goal is absolutely to build a...
