Let another shop cut/weed/tape all colored vinyl. I no longer stock 80 plus colors or pay the carrying cost. Current stock consists of white, white and white.(banner, 2mil, 4mil)
Yup, CNC, but we do a lot more with it than just make straight cuts. Packaging prototypes is one cool thing. Those get thru cut, kiss cut and creased. Making 5000 thru cut campus logo stickers is another. Oooh and cutting reflective and... You get the idea.
When I used to do trailers I would do my best to feed the vinyl to tent evenly around the rivets. After that it was a torch and a 3M rivet brush. Spend the few extra minutes working the vinyl. It pays off with each rivet "tent" you shrink. We charged per rivet, but when we were done if there...
Coro sled is just a waste piece of coro. Although to be honest my latest sled is foam core pvc(generic sintra). Lam peels off easier than coro, well if you do it right away like I always do.:big laugh:
I like my Mutoh 1624x. From time to time we have to print repair panels for various jobs and there hasn't been a color match issue.
On this forum the shops that have Epson printers really like the output. I only have experience with epson aqueous.
I have a Mutoh 1624x and it came from the dealer with their house brand ink.(no clue what it is) I've turned jobs in three hours(not my normal workflow) with no callbacks.
Some of my students are using Procreate with an iPad/stylus. Photoshop and design classes on campus have moved away from Cintiq as of a couple years ago. Everything is iPad/stylus. Powerful and budget friendly. YMMV.
I have the same laminator as the OP and use a sled for initial and consecutive web up.
I also learned to never completely remove laminate during a change over. Just wastes time and creates issues on web up.
Once laminate is loaded and I have to change out I leave a "tail" of exposed laminate...
In essence, forced compliance. I'm not okay with being forced to take anything. Don't give a rats butt if it's a glass of milk. Since the Constitution won't allow vaccine passports the government is working with the private sector becoming the "enforcer" as a constitutional workaround. This...
I run 30lb kraft paper off the lower feed roll. Been doing that since day one. Allows me to run any size graphic without worrying about laminate sticking to the roller.
Some folks hate this others like it. YMMV
BTW Only time I use a sled is when I'm running out of laminate and can't waste...
Some people get all the cool toys.:D. I just have the roll of poly tube and an impulse sealer. Was a lot of fun for me when I got set up. Wife wasn't real happy about the stuff on her desk though...
Competitive depends on one's definition. Owning a printer is another individual decision. Personally I wouldn't be without one at this stage. One income stream is VDP jobs that can't be outsourced.
Working with another shop: The place I deal with is 10 minutes from me and I get to produce...
Recently bought a sheet of 3/4" UV finished plywood for 58 bucks and that was a deal. Four 2x4's by 96" cost 30 bucks.
People keep saying that lumber will have to come down because nobody can afford to build. Wrong. In my neck of the woods contractors can't build...
First question is how big and heavy are the steel letters? If they are actually steel to get that rusty patina you need to be carfeul on mounting. In that case stud mount is the way to go. Over time the rust will push the lettering off if not mechanically fastened.
Otherwise, can you cut out...
Yup, that's the one in the lab. We cut 4x8's on it all the time. When the recip knife is running it sounds like a two stroke weed whacker off in the distance.
Used to use Eco-Print from Imprintables Warehouse. Worked quite well and I did everything wrong on purpose when I washed the shirts. No bleach? Okay lets use some.
Turn inside out? Nope. Tumble dry low? Nope. Washed them like a client would.. Chuck it in with the rest and run it...
