  1. Discussion Inkscape

Thanks Wild West for the information on a New Version of Inkscape. So far I am very impressed with this graphics program and I have always liked using open source products. Thanks Jim
  2. Printer service call labor costs vs. doing the work yourself

Keep in mind that if you change the scanner motor you should also install a new encoder strip and sensor at the same time. I enjoy fixing my printer just make sure you have all of the needed parts before you start. Changing heads is the easiest part of the job but calibrating the heads can take...
  3. Roland VG to VG2 Firmware removes service mode, end user access deleted??

I understand the Roland position that they do not want the end users entering the service mode but once a printer is out of warranty I think the end user should be able to do whatever they want with their printer. I understand Roland does not agree with this statement! When Roland say's they...
  4. Resurrecting old Rolands.

I find working on the old SP series of printers is a process of going through the entire machine from the ink lines, heads, encoder strip and sensor, scanner motor, dampers, O rings, cap tops, ink pump and changing all of the hoses and connectors and just about everything else. One very very...
  5. Discussion Inkscape

I have been trying out and using Inkscape for the past few weeks and so far I really like it. I had thought the learning curve would be hard but I find it is easy and in many way's very similar to Coreldraw. Jim
  6. Resurrecting old Rolands.

Just my opinion but I like the early Roland SP-300 printers better then the later model printers. I understand that it is not has fast for production but for some of us the speed is not a big deal. Most of the time you can fix and replace anything that goes wrong with it and now that Roland...

  10. Discussion Inkscape

I have been trying Inkscape and was wonder the pros and cons from others who are also using this software. I realize the problem with using CMYK colors and have a work around for that for my Roland printer. I was reading that the learning curve is steep but so far I find it a lot like...
  11. Question A serious question..........................

I did the exact same thing you did. I explained my problem when I called the computer guy on the phone and he told me he could fix the problem so he came over and he fixed one of my problems but could not fix another problem with the computer. He charged me $420.00 I was not a happy camper about...
  12. Need to make a new site - advice?

This is an update to my previous post. I no longer use Kadaom Tech for a hosting service for my website because of a lack of anyone in their support system which really turned out to be just one person the owner. What I went through with this company is often refered to has Hosting Hell because...
  13. CorelDRAW 2020 is available now.

I am using X-8 and love it. No reason for me to change at this point in time it does everything I need it to do. Jim
  14. CorelDRAW Webinar "What's New for 2020"

I happen to like Inkscape and it has just about everything I need for my business. For me I did not like the feeling of being black mailed and since I really do not like private equity firms in general and the way they do business it was time to move on. It seems there master business plan is...
  15. Need Help SP-540 Head not firing after installing new DX4 Manifold

C5 Service and Repair wrote the following, On the SP models, the fuses are soldered onto the board and are not serviceable without unsoldering and resoldering new ones in. What I did with my SP when a fuse blew on the on the head. I went to the auto parts store and purchased an inline fuse...
  16. Test print dragging Roland SP300v

When you place the printer in the cleaning mode and the print heads move to the far left side of the printer and you have removed the maintenance cover have you looked at heads and the plastic parts around the head to make sure a small piece of dust hair is not dragging over your prints. You...

  18. Discussion Roland Legacy printers questions

A Roland Tech who I used to take with each time we met once told me that in his opinion the SP two headed printers printed then the four headed printers. The two headed printer were not as fast but the quality was better. I never used the newer four headed printer so I never really compared the...
  19. Discussion Roland Legacy printers questions

Many of the Newer Roland printers have more bells and whistles and much higher prices but the SP series always seemed bullet proof and was a real great working printer that was not to hard to fix when something happened to it. Just my opinion but the SP series printers were the best Roland ever...
  20. SP-540V - Scan motor?

I just changed a scan motor on my SP printer and it is very easy to do and there are video's for doing it. It's usually a good idea to also change the encoder strip and the sensor that sit on top of the encoder strip at the same time you do the scan motor. Jim
