  1. font help please

Looks like regular old Engraver's Old English. Ick nast. But most fire companies are set in stone when it comes to their shields. Trust me. :banghead: Love....Jill
  2. Goldl leaf wrought iron fence ornaments

I'd be tempted to try one of David Smith's gilder's tips and use the loose leaf. I think patent is not going to get into the nooks and crannies. Love....Jill
  3. Email me a digital copy for our new website.....

This can be such a touchy subject. My proposal says that if they do not purchase the design from me, that they may not use it. (I never design without a deposit) Anyway, nowadays when I write up a proposal I let the client know that if they want to buy the artwork that it will be X amount. I...
  4. suggestions for a weak design concept?

As always, I love what Tiki did, but ugh the thought of it, and if bubble tea really does look like that, gag me with a spoon. Hurl City!
  5. Post "YOUR" business logo

I still don't have a logo after 28 years. This is what has been on my truck for about 4 years (well almost, I have CUSTOM SIGNS in one line)This is from my T-Shirt. But I'm about to scrape that off. I'm going to handpaint something, I'm sick of vinyl. My advice is to keep it concise yet...
  6. suggestions for a weak design concept?

Good Lord! (at her ideas and gag at the thought of lumpy tea) I would try to do a mock up beside what "she" wanted, (muck up) you know she will chose that noxious looking thing with the bad 70s font. My suggestions (gag) would be as has been suggested, just use the words, make them fun...
  7. A starting point...

...first off, do you paint signs? If yes, keep the brush. If no, lose it. If you're keeping it use a proper lettering brush (just to humor me) nobody else will notice. Secondly, each element uses a different font. Dimensional-looking lettering has jumped the shark. Old English jumped it back...
  8. Its a start.

My tombstone will read: -adapted from Longfellow
  9. cutting stencils for painting

If it is images, you can allow for distortion when sketching it on. A projector is about $100 and the transparencies and a sharpie maybe another 10 and you're ready to go. No d!cking around cutting a mask that may or may not work, no expense of buying a mask, masking the mask, applying it...
  10. Its a start.

For starters, use the photo uploading feature of this forum. Secondly, never use 651 on a vehicle, it is more for flat surfaces and if you used it for the yellow, it will fade. Thirdly, that phone number stands out more than the logo, and the kerning looks a bit off. I'd have about 3 hours in...
  11. Is this just way too much...America...spanglyness? (New word)

I'd be tempted to go more traditional and less mascot.
  12. cutting stencils for painting

Really does sound as if you would be better off using a projector. Love....Jill
  13. Is this just way too much...America...spanglyness? (New word)

I have been taught all my life never to use red and blue touching like you did with that outline. That font looks really bulky, too, the way you've used it in different sizes. I think it needs a defined shield shape not just stripes and I agree that SIGN needs to have the most prominence...
  14. Help I need to make a new sign look old and cracked

  15. State Licensing - Pennsylvania

...as far as I know, there IS no state licensing in PA. Anyone can make and install signs here. That's why there are so many hacks. (not talking about electric signs) :Big Laugh My business is registered with the state and I do have liability insurance, though. Love....Jill
  16. new most amazing font!! DESIRE

Chuck's fonts are the bomb. Love...Jill
  17. Logo Critique

I was always taught to never use two display typefaces together. I think that if you changed CHROME to a bold sans serif like Antique Olive Nord or Sign DNA Big Red it would be a lot better looking. Love....Jill
  18. what is this abomination???

Pretty sure that's from Sign DNA. Love....jill
  19. thank you Jill!

Something like that perhaps but far uglier. :noway:
  20. Gutter Business Logo

I'd make the point of the roof tighter if you are going to try to make it look like an A. I read it as "Merican" which is OK if you're a redneck. Change the font on Seamless gutters, make it non-italic and decrease the size. Love....Jill
