  1. Question auto wrap, door edges cut or wrap?

:-) My hands aren't as steady as they used to be. With layered municipal graphics (reflective etc) it's sometimes hard to see the exact center of the gap, even if it's "pushed" inwards. I'd rather have an "edge" in cutting if I can get it.
  2. Question auto wrap, door edges cut or wrap?

^ Ohhh... yep, gotta get one...
  3. And another... may be an old Leo's Gold font

Aannnd... it's an RJ Marx product.
  4. And another... may be an old Leo's Gold font

Yeah, close, not quite close enough. This will be matching other existing copy. Yikes....
  5. And another... may be an old Leo's Gold font

Seen it before, and absolutely can't find it in my file folder..
  6. Question auto wrap, door edges cut or wrap?

Not wrapping, but lots of municipal graphics. I try to wrap the edge; I'll cut down the center of the gap and wrap what's left. Those door hinge areas.. sometimes you can reach through the open door to the front and work your fingers along the edge. Not easy and not on all vehicles, but that's...
  7. Would A CNC Work?

I used a drag knife that set in place of the router blade. Took a bit of fiddling to get the offsets where I needed them to be, but actually turned out ok. Not terribly accurate, but for the intended purposes was fine. Now, do you want to spend $10K and up on a CNC just to cut magnets, or do you...
  8. National account for Goodwill, any ideas?

A local guy near me does the tri-state area as far as I know. I've done some on-site surveys for him in years past. I don't think Goodwill has a single national supplier.
  9. Any tricks for Cutting large format graphic edges by hand?

^ Interesting. My OCD would kick in screaming "the seam isn't straight"!!!
  10. Boat Vinyl Install

If you're using air egress vinyl, DO NOT use application fluid. You'll wind up with a million little bubbles that take forever to get out. If you're using a regular 2mil no air egress, then fluid away. I have no issues with using application fluid in the appropriate situations. Not seeing what...
  11. How do you dress at work? Uniforms?

Polo shirt with my logo front pocket and back, clean dark jeans and work boots are my day-to-day if I'm out installing or meeting customers. Winter will see a decent quality sweatshirt with logo front and back. If I'm not out meeting or installing, anything goes, especially in this weather.
  12. Maybe this will help you rethink pricing...

Getting off tangent... probably because it voids all the manufacturer's warranties for the helmet. Yes, it looks fun.. until there's a problem. Then the manufacturer steps in and says "since you painted the helmet with oil base paints that weaken the overall shell, we can't cover your loss...
  13. Question How many of you are running into commercial contractor license requirements to pull permits?

Yep, every township here requires a contractor license. What makes it even better is if you are a "regular" contractor - one who works on homes (like roofing), you also need a state license. We get hit in every possible way here as township license fees aren't uniform..
  14. Question LED message centers and full color displays

I've sold (1) EMU in the last year from Optec. I have to say while the product was initially great, I've had nothing but problems with the hardware. Been through 2 modems in the last 2 months and nobody can offer up a reason why.
  15. Clear Acrylic with Standoffs Corners Cracking

Nope, you can't polish a polycarb edge. That one photo though looks like an impact crack as another poster mentioned. Could be cleaning staff getting exuberant with a cleaning wand or something. Or, it just may be that you've tightened the caps too much. I don't use anything less than 1/4"...
  16. Question Best Adhesive Remover ?

Rapid Remover and if that doesn't do it (only on new-ish vehicles) I'll move to lacquer thinner and then acetone as my last resort.
  17. Need Help BUBBLES! Need clear answers on vinyl application

Right. Yes, air egress is certainly not a vinyl for wet application. But for 99% of the other non-air egress premium vinyls, there should be no problems... if using a quality liquid, and not a home-made brew. Yep. Even with registration marks it can be tricky!
  18. Need Help BUBBLES! Need clear answers on vinyl application

Bingo. While I try to do most everything dry, there are times that it has to be wet - layering, for example, or in the weather we've been having here where it's hot and humid and you're working outside. I have yet to have a failure with a wet install, even after 20+ years doing this... and even...
  19. And behind the sign waaaasssssssssss what?

Expect the worst and hope for the best. I try to carry an inspection mirror with me for stuff like that - helps eliminate the unseen.
  20. Need Help mutoh 1304 solid colour problem

The magenta tinge is the printer interpreting the grey in a CMYK environment. If you RIP'd the grey as a CMYK, that's what you'll get. Try sending it as a greyscale and see what happens. As for the "waves".. looks like you're missing some black nozzles. Did you do a nozzle check?
