  1. Simulated 22 karat engine turned gold

I'll have to try that... :-)
  2. Simulated 22 karat engine turned gold

Cochranville FD Photo2 by letterman7 posted Feb 6, 2018 at 9:10 AMCochranville FD Photo1 by letterman7 posted Feb 6, 2018 at 9:10 AM Closest thing I have at the moment. I don't use it that often; the repeat fill is the pinstripe at the top of the door. The main image is the master "background"...
  3. Simulated 22 karat engine turned gold

I've both scanned and photographed a roll of my RealGold and isolated a single turn. Some careful editing and tuning with Corel's version of Photoshop, and I have a clean, single, color-corrected turn that I can copy/paste as many times as I want to get a seamless fill to cover just about...
  4. How long can you go?

I got lucky. Even with the odd head strike and sporadic cleanings (where's that smudge coming from?!) this machine owes me nothing. But I don't need a 4 or 6 head machine, either - I just don't do that kind of volume. So I'm looking at leasing a Mutoh 1324. It's going to be a toss up between...
  5. Cut vinyl prices peeling after 1 month

    (1) It's Avery. (2) It's calendared. If it's facing the sun full time, it's going to shrink and pull, just like that.
  6. How long can you go?

Apparently, about 9 years. My 1204 finally blew the head after all that time. I knew I was running on borrowed time when the 'lifetime head' started flashing last year. Finally lost the black channel this morning. In those 9 years, very little had been done to the machine - a Y motor (twice), a...
  7. Thinking about adding a Wacom (or similar)

It was always in 'draw' mode, so even when I was 'hovering' it was making a mark. I'll have to look at it again and see if there is something I missed setting it up...
  8. Thinking about adding a Wacom (or similar)

Ah... I'll have to mess with it some more. My learning circle is somewhat obtuse...
  9. Thinking about adding a Wacom (or similar)

I bought a smaller, older tablet to try as well with Corel. So far, I've hooked it up and gotten to the point that I can't get past the mark where the tablet picks up the pen 1/2" from the surface (and yes, I've tried adjusting the parameters of the tablet... didn't help). So it sits on the...
  10. Question PVC or Aluminum sign blank and how to prime

Depends on the look that she wants. Personally, I'd use 1" pvc and give the edges a nice routed finish. PVC is used in exterior house trim and will take a latex paint with little prep outside of a light sanding and cleaning (lacquer thinner works well). The issue with thinner pvc is it will warp...
  11. Wood lightbox – ever seen this before?

Either didn't know any better or didn't have the machinery that would rout aluminum. Interesting though.. if the ply were sealed correctly they might get quite a few years out of it. At least until the fire marshal inspects and finds all the electronics inside a wood box...
  12. Need Help Gold Leaf Foil

I've had different colors come from both SignGold and RealGold. It was explained to me that they can't help the lot colors. I tried to explain to them that matching existing apparatus with their product on both is imperative. Seemed to fall on deaf ears.
  13. Discussion Thought I knew this answer......................

From what I remember when I first started, the state (PA) did a name search to see if there was another company of that name. They did the same thing when I started another company 10 years later (still on the graphics side of things). Since the names came back "clean" I had no issues. But.. an...
  14. Looking for vector lake maps

Good gig to have. I concur with the above.
  15. reflective apartment door lettering

You'll also need to check to see if there is a specific fire code regulation for height. There is around here.
  16. Perforated graphic coming loose

Be glad you got that much out of it. Window perf was never meant to be a permanent thing. One year at most..
  17. Water Printing

Hydrographics is cool stuff. There's a place not too far from me that does that process, mostly gun stocks from what I understand. Find a niche and some good money can be made.
  18. Customer wants to duplicate this yard sign but I never seen this before

It's printed polyethylene, back to back 2 pieces, edge glued to make a sleeve. Bolts keep it from sliding off the frame. Don't see them much though..
  19. Need a Wholesale Source for 3/4" Cut to Size Substrate

You're like 45 minutes from me. Stop by and get a piece of 1" PVC. Screw the screw eyes right into it - use 3 - 4" long and bury the threads. You'll be fine.
