  1. Looking for cheap eco solvent printer

Maintenance cost is relative to how often you use the machine. Use it every day and you'll replace consumables once or twice a year. Leave it sit and you'll replace more often. I'm a fan of my Mutoh 1204. It can sit for days with no issues (fingers now crossed :-)). Mine might be the odd machine...
  2. Looking for cheap eco solvent printer

If you have to invest in a printer to "save" your business, you need to rethink your business plan. You should be able to mark up subbed out print jobs enough to make a profit and not alienate potential clients. Sounds to me that you are in a market of cut-rate shops which are barely scraping by...
  3. Oval embassy emblem sign blank

Might be just as easy to cut an oval from foam and sand the edges. It's not that difficult a shape.
  4. Air bubbles 6 months later...

You'll have to pull the face and peel back a corner to the first bubble to see what's going on. My best guess is that not all the adhesive remover was removed, despite wiping the face with alcohol. Lexan is finicky.. If you can pull the sheet to the bubble and check underneath you may find it's...
  5. Need Help Can I Apply Laminated Cast Prints Wet?

You need to check your facts. Printed right on the Oracal color chart: 951 / 751 series cast: Adhesive:: Solvent Polyacrylate Oracal 631 has the "water" based adhesive and is meant for short term indoor signage only.
  6. What features on a router can't you do without

I run a very basic ShotBot with VCarve software. It's served me well for years. I have, however, set up a vacuum collection system for the spoils (more off than on, but it works). I would like eventually to have a spindle (more accurate than a basic router) and ShotBot's upgraded servo motors...
  7. Need Help Can I Apply Laminated Cast Prints Wet?

Looks good to me! I like the tube trick for the media.. I'll have to remember that. Bullshit. I've been doing this for 25 years and still apply when the situation needs it. There's no shame in a wet install, those that say they can install anything, anywhere, dry without bubbles or wrinkles...
  8. Need Help Mutoh ValueJet 1204 48"

Isn't that more a software setting? Through Corel and CoCut, the registration marks are pre-set, but I can put the image anywhere on the vinyl through my 1204, even up to the edge if I want (but don't since I want the grip space for the plotter).
  9. 4" red reflective vinyl

Or you could buy a 10 yd roll x 24" and slit it yourself...
  10. What is this vinyl?

Windows look tinted to me. It doesn't take much to make an etched vinyl change color when the light hits it from the outside. Peel an unobtrusive corner down at the bottom and see if you can tell for sure.
  11. Need a super silent air compressor for garage

Probably. Because this has nothing to do with signmaking and everything to do with affording the right tools for the job. If he's worrying about spending more than $250 on a compressor, what is he going to spend on brake pads? He's going to cheap out and buy the worst quality, least expensive...
  12. Need Help Need help with this shopbot

Yes, you need a computer to connect to the control box. Then you'll need to download the SB control software from SB to operate. You'll still want a program like VCarve to do the actual path creations if it already isn't loaded. Judging by what you have in the photos, you don't have the actual...
  13. Need a super silent air compressor for garage

You're repairing cars and posting on a sign forum?? There are no silent compressors with the horsepower you're going to need to work with air tools. Like Texas said, get a long hose and put it outside under a cover of some sort. Or wear ear protection. And expect to pay much, much more than...
  14. Paint mask fiasco

What brand Frisket, Gino? I've also tried the paint-an-cut-through-paint mask method with little success.
  15. Source for LED strips

For applications like that, typically individual pucks are used, not a strip. All you'll need to add is something to support the pucks.
  16. How to draw accurate vectors on photo with real measurements

Yes, seriously. What, in your description, varies from creating a paper template? A paper template is going to give you correct variations in window curves.. drawing from "lengths" and adding in radii won't.
  17. How to draw accurate vectors on photo with real measurements

Typically the tinters here cover the entire window, not just the portion that's "clear". Put the tint on the entire window, overlapping edges, and trim to fit. You won't be able to generate very accurate patterns only from photos. You can't translate 2D into 3D without issues. If you really want...
  18. Why are vehicle templates used vs photos and measurements?

Very early I used templates only because digital cameras weren't around yet and I couldn't wait a week for film to be processed. I never work from templates anymore.. case in point - doing an ambulance for a new startup upfitter on Monday. They sent me the templates the company used to spec with...
  19. please help I need to make a decal for the left side an right side of a boat

Your general description of "decal" doesn't tell us much. Artcut is a very basic, cheap program which is limited in what it can do. You should be able to mirror graphics with no issue, but mirroring text probably wouldn't work. You'll need to create the image on your own.
  20. Summa S60 T Sereis - Win Plot Issue.

Mine does that as well. No harm in it, I actually use that as it's cutting as a visual check to make sure the registration is dead on.
