Pretty sure people have better things to do than make copyright logos out of the worst material available to work with.
Just 'cause you remember when colonplast came out doesn't mean you should be making and showing off "art" made out of it.
You're welcome, happy to help. To be honest it doesn't smell great! Especially when printing white or heavy coverage. We added an air scrubber beside it and have it in a 2500 sqft room and you can still definitely smell the inks when it's printing. If you have the option, I would consider...
1. I'm not sure about that - it's been a long time since we've looked at Roland UV printers. I personally wouldn't consider them for our shop.
2. The black is fairly opaque - especially compared to solvent ink. You can build a nice rich black and don't have to worry about ink limits since...
Shouldn't be any issues with doing that. Let me know if you would like us to have a look at printing it for you, we're running 3M IJ180cv3 every other day in the shop.
Good luck with your project!
Ohhh are you trying to do cut only jobs? I've wasted hours trying to get that svg workflow to work and was never able to.
It would be really nice if Onyx cut server could simply accept PDF files instead of some rando file format that no one else uses.
Perhaps they've improved this in...
You might want to consider Mimaki UCJV or possibly Latex w/ white. I don't have any experience w/ Latex but we are quite happy with our Mimaki UCVJ printer.
White is nice and opaque and should last 3 years outdoors without issues.
What printer are you using? We're printing some right now on our Roland XR-640 but I definitely agree that it doesn't accept ink as well as say, 3M IJ180cv3. I think it's just due to the fact that the finish is so glossy.
We just created a custom 720x720 profile that's slowed way down...
The only way we do it is to cut both colors with registration marks, then use tabs of scotch tape on registration marks to hold down second color, then premask all together.
Are they actually printing darker? I never trust how colors look on screen between computers and design/RIP software.
Those Onyx values, are they the output values? This would be dictated by your profile and I believe this would generally be different that your input values.
With that being...
Yeah sometimes the cheap crap isn't worth it.
We've been testing out some random Chinese stuff (I think it's "Zobo Coroplast") and it prints ok but sheets are 48.25" x 95.75" which is a pain in the a$$. That extra 1/4" on the height and missing 1/4" on the width just results in files...
We use this stuff too (3M SCPS-55) and I agree it does work the best. I've tried other "comparable" masks and they never hold as well.
Definitely pricey but it just gets built into the cost.
