  1. Permits for Window Signage

I just had a look at it too, and there is no mention of vinyl graphics, just "signs". And from what I can see, you even need engineer stamped drawings in some cases?! I would like to think that they're not considering vinyl graphics as a "sign", but who knows. They may have finally fallen off...
  2. Permits for Window Signage

Is this a new rule? We've done lots of store-front window wraps and have never heard of this being something that a permit is required for.
  3. Edward Jones

    Also curious about this!
  4. Edward Jones

Not to get too side-tracked, but is that HDU? Great looking sign and signs in the background. :u rock:
  5. Edward Jones

Will check this book out, thanks! I started investing (Wealthsimple) in the stock market right in March 2020 and have done quite well considering I didn't/don't know what the hell I'm doing. I also have some ETF accounts which do okay but I can do way better with my own stock picks. I...
  6. Bad UV printer and taking advantage of the Capital may screwup our business

Sorry to hear about your poor experience Kevin, that sounds awful. I'm glad to hear that you somewhat got the issue resolved and are moving forward with some different units.
  7. Ready to burn Roland XR-640

Our canned VW profiles will not print a nice red on our XR-640 but we can print nicer reds out of Onyx using custom profiles we created with an i1. You'll likely be able to create some nice profiles with better ink limits once you start playing with your i1 although I'm not familiar with the...
  8. Best 3/16" substrate for flatbed UV and guillotine cutter?

    Something like this perhaps? https://www.neenahpaper.com/brands/converd-wide-format
  9. poor quality oce arizona

It does work automatically, as long as the setting is set to "on". You can usually feel it if you touch the bottom of it when it's in operation. (Feels like a VERY light electrical shock, does not hurt) Is it a digital grade of acrylic that you're printing on? How far is your head height...
  10. A little office remodeling this past weekend....

Gino needs to put his glasses back on! (I'm assuming you're correct, all the same wall) Looks great, and I'm glad to hear you guys came out better than you were before in the end. We've been talking about re-doing our front area for about 5 years now....one of these days it will get done!
  11. Weird ink stains on unprinted parts

    Disappearing ink?
  12. Question UCJV300 Series Print/Cut

Assuming you mean UCJV, your guess is as good as mine. I learned how random the "base point" is when trying to print double sided banners on ours, lots of fun. The only thing I've been able to do is trial and error, and mark with a sharpie where your laser is then measure from there, and I...
  13. Suggestions Mystery vinyl/material

Anyone familiar with this material/application? (See picture) Intended to completely obscure the view from one side and kind of allow visibility through the other. Used for privacy/security application, where it is very important that the visibility be obscured from one side. I looks like...
  14. No access from here

I signed up and checked out the site, looked kind of cool. I didn't love the 3-4 spam emails that followed within a couple hours, so I unsubscribed and now I have no idea what the site was. Guess we'll never know!
  15. Onyx/Roland Questions

We run our XR-640 out of Onyx and now that you mention it we do have a lot of issues with it "running out of space" when there's lots of width to work with. It seems to need to waste almost 2-3" of width so you can only really run 51" ish of jobs then waste the rest of the material. I guess...
  16. Flatbed cutter users - how do you estimate time?

Personally I would just guesstimate, but given the fact that you have an estimator and are trying to get super accurate times I'm assuming that wouldn't be good enough. (And probably not ideal if your estimator isn't super familiar with the equipment and doesn't know how much time these things...
  17. Anybody with DIY media basket or a cheap one for sale?

Good to know, thanks for the tip!
  18. Anybody with DIY media basket or a cheap one for sale?

Thanks for this, I need to build a couple for the shop! I tried using pvc pipes in the past and they just didn't have the strength. I like your design much better, looks solid.
  19. Roland printers and Swampcooler warehouse

Humidity is not a bad thing in a print environment. If you're usually running 15% I'm surprised that's not giving you static etc. issues. We keep our shop/print room as close to 50% as possible all year round.
  20. Has anyone here figured out how to get into the Summa service page?

When re-mapping the bed, does it actually register pretty accurate measurements? Reason I ask, we just finished an order where we backslit 2000 decals (works great with kiss-cut tool, for those who are interested) but the cuts weren't 100% consistent going across the bed. Good enough for...
