  1. Digging Equipment.............................

Gino, I've got a 'Little Beaver' auger here - one man capable - with multiple bits and extensions from 2" to 10" (I think). You're more than welcome to "rent" at a rate we can both live with for your time period. It just sits, usually, I think the last time I had it out was back in February this...
  2. Corner Rounder question

And yet nobody actually answered his question. I don't have a corner rounder, but I do use a lot of the DG3 material. That said, my press punch for holes cuts cleanly through .080 with DG3 on top. Take note that the vinyl will slightly discolor around the hole (or corner). So... will a corner...
  3. Print/cut gold leaf (Real Gold)

'Tis interesting.. I have the 8518 and it didn't want to play well. Might have to revisit it and try to prep the surface a little just to see. Mutoh's Eco-solvents might have something to do with it, too.
  4. Print/cut gold leaf (Real Gold)

Your red looks pretty solid in that one photo, that's why I asked. I've never been able to accurately contour cut SignGold, I usually wind up hand cutting a fair bit of it. To be honest, I can usually hand cut faster and more accurately than time spent setting up my file to the plotter.
  5. Print/cut gold leaf (Real Gold)

What are you using to print on the laminate with that gives such a solid color fill? I've tried that with my Mutoh with not such good results.. the ink didn't want to stick to the laminate so well.
  6. solid brushed silver material for base of sign

I've got 3M's sample pack here.. and you're right. Their brushed almost looks white at some angles.. not even close. But then, it's vinyl.
  7. Winplot leaving out lines

Not being familiar (or even heard of) Inkscape, it's likely the .pdf filter from it when you export to Winplot. Usually I have to import .eps files to WP; can you do the same with Inkscape?
  8. Wooden sign post pricing

Well, I tend to build the posts into the prices of my signs. If it's a good client, then yes, I'll pick up what I need for them while I'm shopping for someone else. Hourly rates all wash in the end.. if the customer is installing, then why screw them for something that doesn't take me any time?
  9. Wooden sign post pricing

Let's hope the sign isn't more than 18" in height since burial depth is everything. But, IMHO, $70 is too much. If the store is only a half hour away (hour round trip), just mark it up 2x and help your customer out.
  10. Lettering on a 37 ft concrete wall

Sandblasting will weaken the concrete, so your client wouldn't be too happy in a few years if it starts to crack. That looks like a pretty modern building... IMHO brushed aluminum/stainless letters on stand-offs would work well for that wall. Don't give your client too many choices - pick two or...
  11. what is your shop warranty for vehicle lettering?

Just had this conversation yesterday with a customer. 30 minutes or 30 miles, whichever comes first. Most people understand you can't cover "road hazard" - nicks, scrapes etc. Vinyl failure is something else altogether.. normally if I have a vinyl fail on a good customer (like the local PD)...
  12. flatbed cutter vs. router

I don't see any 3D capabilities on the Summa, just straightforward 2D routing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F1O1W95KqY Even on the Summa website it says 'milling of most solid boards in the graphics industry' - no mention of 3D.
  13. flatbed cutter vs. router

It's either one or the other. You can't do 3D with a flatbed cutter. You can, however, purchase swivel knives for routers and go that route. I've experimented with them for heavier materials (magnetic) and had so-so results, but I didn't fully engage the programming to accommodate knife offsets...
  14. Looking for Silver leaf Vinyl (Discontinued)

Never used it, but if all other options have been discontinued, you might have to step to the "real" deal with RealGold's silver florentine: http://www.realgoldinc.com/Vinyl
  15. Doming Materials

Machine? No machine, just a applicator with resin pre-mix cartridges. I've done a hand full, but nothing I actively promote. Neat stuff to play with.
  16. One way mirror vinyl ?

    Don't think that exists..
  17. Tilt Brush by Google

I can see the application if you wanted to render something full size and wanted to see a 3D version. Still looks primitive - I'm sure that will be fine tuned in short order.
  18. Patriotic Graphic Needed

So? Have him paint something up on a panel, photograph it and print it. Might cost you more than your client is willing to spend, though.
  19. Fire Truck decaling on the rear part

I didn't catch that you were in Canada. NFPA for vehicles may not apply there. From a quick search it looks like Canada only adopted NFPA certification in 2014.. you may want to talk with the department to see if they are required to have DG3 material. Local emergency management teams around...
  20. Fire Truck decaling on the rear part

Yes, there are pre-made panels for those trucks. Only a few companies offer them, and they aren't cheap. They start with the lime green and overlay the red translucent. I've always done mine with strips of 6". Time consuming, but offers the same end look. If it's a new truck, have them leave off...
