And definitely wear safety glasses. I don’t always wear them when doing lumber but acrylic will shatter like glass and throw shards a good distance. I have seen it routinely get thrown well over 20’ away.

I agree with the diablo blades. Makes a world of difference to have the right blade for the job. I have a metal sblade for my table saw that is designed for plastics and thin metals like aluminum and when I cut di-bond, it looks like a factory edge. Not a single splinter or anything. Spend the...
I have an ATF Type 54 explosives license for doing pro-fireworks as a hobby. All I can say is “you’ll shoot your eye out.”

My rep says Mimaki doesn’t know when they will start shipping in the USA even though I continue to get flyers and things for the printer. I am very curious as to the price as my rep said MSRP is $29,995 and the Mimaki USA web site says MSRP is $27,995. I already have a CJV-150 that I bought over...
I have 3 deals in front of me right now
Deal 1, GS6000 with new heads and 70 ink cartridges with it for $4k
Deal 2, 2 S50670 printers (1 has less than 14k sg ft and the other has less than 34k sq ft through it) no rip for $9k
Deal 3, 2 s70670 printers that we’re maintained by Epson but I...
I run my l25500 on windows 7 with onyx. I do t know if any “windows driver” for the printer since it runs as a network device talking to the rip through an IP address

If don’t have a rip software, I recommend onyx. It’s $2500 which is one of the least expensive and it’s very easy to learn and use. It can also run just about every other printer out there when you get something different.
If you were getting this printer to be able to run outdoor things, you kinda got hosed. I have two of these printers and they do a fantastic job in what they are designed for but I seldom do that stuff anymore so they are both on a pallet in the warehouse awaiting me to have time to post them...
I'm in the midwest and 90% of my business is print to the trade. The other 10% is installation to the trade. I know from working with the wrap guys that they wholesale charge 3-5$ per sq ft for installation only on a vehicle so that's what I have been charging when I do any wrap work. Is wall...
I've had that problem on the latex with heavier banner materials. 18oz Heytex did it. The reason it is worse at the beginning is due to the preheating. The heat pulls the plasticizers to the surface causing that problem. That's why it almost goes away after that. You can try turning the heat...
You should be able to get fantastic colors if you use an I1 to go through each media and tweak the print profile. I use Onyx and it's pretty straight forward and easy. My first printer was a L25500 with no experience in printing at all or really even sign making except for a few things I made...
That's what I was thinking. This sign is much bigger than it looked in the pictures. I'll attach a full size image. Those marks that look like BB gun marks are from hail. 2 of the signs look like that all over. We were quoting about $600 just to paint it before having the repairs to deal with...
My company is wholesale to the trade only so often, my local clients will ask me to do all kinds of field work since I own a bucket truck. This project isn't a bucket project but I was asked to quote repainting an hdu sign. All they had were rough dimensions and the google earth pic. I gave Him...
I disagree. The news loves stories about the giant trying to slay the little guy in the ring. What I noticed about all of those lawsuits is that all of the defendants were trying to make money off of HD trademark. In the case of reproducing the logo for someone's personal use, such as to replace...
I also have one of the new Mimakis. Wish it was a little faster but I got it to be able to do white ink printing when I needed to. I also have an HP. Next printer will either be a new latex or epson s80600 so I have a larger gamut. I could get a bigger gamut out of the Mimaki if I lose the white...
I definitely wouldn't print on the overlaminate for second surface when you can just as well use something like orafol 3651 clear which is designed for this purpose and is less expensive.

I had the same experience when I went to demo my Mimaki solvent. They had a latex and I asked about it and the Rep told me that they couldn't even keep it running. It uses a bunch of ink to keep the heads clean and they ran out and never replaced them. He said it probably needed new heads but no...
When I get a media jam, I have to turn it off at the back but when I turn it back on, it starts up automatically 9 out of 10 times. Haven't had the hang at 24 though.

I have both printers. Both machines have their place and I have some medias that print on one better than the other. As far as outgassing, drying, whatever you want to call it, here is a real life, everyday example of the affects of ss21 ink on the media. When I print decals and want to cut...
