  1. Onyx And Slow Startup Times

Onyx isn't alone in this. Versaworks takes ages to load if you have a long queue of jobs. We generally have to clear anything older than the last month or two, which is incredibly inconvenient as we lose any record of what settings were used to print a given job.

  3. Can Flexi tell you the square footage of a shape?

For everyone that's flipping their shit over why someone in the sign business might need to know the area of an irregular shape: For sign permitting, not all jurisdictions use the method where they consider the area of an irregular shaped sign to be an imaginary bounding rectangle. Someone...
  4. Help Plz!

Not always true. Many script fonts often have alternate characters included, and in Opentype they can even be programmed to appear automatically, although the most common implementation is double-letter ligatures (where the second character in "ee", "oo" or "tt" gets replaced with an alternate).
  5. Cyan Spraying?

Most of our problems went away when we stopped making signs for real estate agents.
  6. Hi There, New To Site

This is what I've heard from others as well. Don't get white ink or metallic on your first printer.
  7. Font Help Please

I doubt it matters. Just pick something vaguely similar, like they did on this one.
  8. Help Plz!

Those type of distressed/hipster/script fonts are not done by "mainstream" font foundries and are usually found on places like Creative Market. They can be tough to identify. Surely they have a vector file somewhere, though. They've printed their logo on a ton of stuff, if you look on their...

Yep. Instantly recognize that one ever since Stranger Things.
  13. Help Attaching An Acrylic Sign To A Hollow Core Door.

Just put it back up with twice as much tape. The paint might be at fault, if it's not adhering well to the door, but more tape would spread out the weight so the paint doesn't have to hold as much.
  14. Need Help Vinyl That Any Pen Can Be Used On

Matte is the key, I think. Ballpoint pens work on most of our matte materials. Notable exception is our matte laminate, so we don't laminate anything that needs to be written on.
  15. Blue Streaks Every Time

My first guess would be your cyan or magenta head is misfiring. How's your nozzle test looking?
  16. Sign Maker / Car Wrapper / Media Designer From Germany Q&a

Most sign companies have awful "designers". If your creative work is really good and you enjoy doing signage, why not work as a freelance designer and offer your services to many sign companies? Most sign companies wouldn't have enough "creative" work to keep you busy full-time.
  17. Help Trying To Make A Print Ready File For Wrap

Good advice, that's pretty much what we do. OP, just make sure you understand the basic math of resolutions. If you're designing in full scale, 100ppi is good, but if you're designing in 1:10 scale you need to output a production file at 1000ppi. You said you were having issues with images when...

  20. Anyone Know What This Is- Failing Media

Wow, thanks for the detailed answer. I guess you have to be Gemini-sized to make acrylic your primary material for routing. They use laser, so less sanding, and they melt down and reuse all their scraps so they actually use 100% of an expensive sheet of acrylic.
