I had a similar problem with regular ink cartridges due to the smart card being expired. I would insert the ink and the printer would act like it wasn't there. Put in a different cart and, voila! See if there is an expiration date on the cleaning cart - not sure since I haven't needed to...

I am guessing your cleaning cycles were set too frequently and/or too strong. I think I have mine set at 12 hours - economy mode.

I admit 2009 was no picnic for me either. The loss of my job earlier in the year was quite a blow, but in its place I was able to focus all my efforts on my sign business which I truly enjoy. Best wishes to everyone in 2010!

What type of ink is it using? Any problems with it? I've seen units converted to eco-solvent in good working order fetch over $7,000 on ebay. If it is still using pigment inks and is in good condition probably less than half of that.

Exactly what I was thinking. Some fonts have restrictions that prevent them from being embedded into a PDF. If everything else appears to embed correctly, you will likely need to at least convert that particular font to outlines before saving.

Still waiting on my new Summa D-140 to arrive. There was some kind of snaffu between the distributor and Summa but apparently it is now resolved and the cutter has left Summa's docks today!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!

I've heard folks having problems with some magnets puckering, shrinking or peeling due to the cheap calendared vinyl they use to face magnets. NOT necessarily due to the vinyl they put on the magnets. One way around this would be to apply printed vinyl directly on bare magnetics. However...
