  1. Round 3

Being a design book freak, can't wait to get my mits on it, I'm looking forward to it! By the way Tony, you need to check out Dan's site, lots of inspiration and articles.
  2. Round 3

Here are the layouts with color applied...
  3. Round 3

That "G" is painful to look at, like a bayonet.... Your statement about the Mike Stevens book is the usual response, it's a hard read for newbie sign designers. I have claimed that the Mike Stevens book was not a logo book, but a layout out book, and I still insist that. But in this case I...
  4. For one of the Disney resort stores.

Love it, and thanks for showing the process... I can look at the process stuff all day...

  7. Fur and velvet wraps?

Rick walks up to Gigi's felt covered car and say's... oh, nevermind, >walks away dejected thinking she's not gonna get it anyway (and neither am I)...
  8. Alley Kat - help needed

I'm pretty sure the point would be that stock art usually does not allow for use with a logo or trademark. The gato is from a site that restricts it's use and does not allow for it. Since these are shown as "initial" concepts, I am assuming that the cat is there as a placeholder (I do...
  9. New to Sign Industry - Need Advice

Find an experienced sign guy to look over the shop, especially the family shop. What kind of signs are you going to make? please be aware that you MIGHT be limited in the type of signage you can do. Almost every sign has some code/rule or law made for it... even wraps! Here in California, as...
  10. Logo for my business

I have to acknowledge this great critique... too many threads taking a dump lately and laced in-between crap posts are nuggets like this...
  11. It's official. We can make more money flipping burgers...

Baaah, after that last "what do graphic designers do" thread, seems that's all we are worth anyway, well, unless you are not actually a "designer"...
  12. How do they do this ?

as suggested, push thru... I think what's making it glow more is the fact that the letter faces are opaque instead of transparent. If the faces were transparent the glow would not look at bright.
  13. What does a graphic designer do?

After reading and participating in this thread, I would like 30 minutes of my life back...
  14. What does a graphic designer do?

Gosh I thought sign shops did graphic design... When you say signs.. what kind of signs? Some do banners, stickers and digital print... some do a lot more, gotta think grander... We can describe a graphic designer till we're blue in the face. The caca stops when you split open your...
  15. Whatcha think?

You need to do some research on what kind of look you are looking for. As far is what you designed, I want to be constructive but the only I can say is admire you posting this as it is. I would do some research, get a visual language together (shape, color, type, illustration, etc) and...

  17. Michael Jackson Death Anniversary

I have been a fan since the Jackson 5. I was also a DJ during hey day and played his records till they couldn't play anymore, I played a few MJ songs last month and they still fill the floor. Like most deaths from overdose, I think it was a sad end and such a waste.
  18. Billboard Tensioning Systems??

Well they sound like they have no budget, i would have recommended the Signcomps retrofit "clip" system, just fitted 11 frames with them. They work great.
  19. Family issues

Ummm, it's no big deal... If a newbie with a cutter is a threat, time to step up your skills.
  20. Louis' Family Restaurant Sign (before/after)

The customer is always right is a retail principle, not design... I can see the client wanting an hour sign, especially if the entry door hours sign is not all that visible from the parking lot. If the customer was thinking of more bang for the buck, they would change the pole sign...
