Do you.have 60" material? While.not the funnest to do... If the design allows.it, load the 60 and cut 54" on Your plotter leaving the last 3" open and Uncut. Cut it in a separate piece...put it on your vinyl and hand cut. If it's just a circle cutting the last 3" should be easy. I do it all...
  6. What to do about a failed install?

This would be easy to do for a semi-seasoned guy. Not trying to knock you, but any experienced installer can look at vinyl and tell if it's air release or cheap Chinese stuff and decide on the best route of application. Wrapping and applying decals is a skill... Every wrap is different and...
  7. What to do about a failed install?

Ah. Interesting. I just noticed my rating is "above average" and I have two late shipments.... Everything's done and shipped within two days... So I'm going to presume it's the not using tracking thing. Ebays going downhill anyways... They now do promoted listing like etsy. Any of my decal...
  8. Need Help I have angry customers :(

Are you a one person shop? Or do you have staff? It sounds to me like your a one man shop...in which case you're going to give yourself more headaches. If you're doing floor decals and banner mostly... Youre probably gaging up a ton of jobs at once. Do you really want to go edit every single...
  9. What to do about a failed install?

What does it ding you? I have 200+ feedback, 100% score. I've used tracking numbers maybe 10 times... Most of my stuff is small stickers I throw in an envelope. I haven't paid for a listing fee in years either... For some reason I ha e hundreds of free listing, every month I seem.to get more...
  10. Shipping Large Masked Decals

If it's going into a box it's fine. Don't wrap it around tightly... Just wrap it loosely. Shove some packing tape between the core and the vinyl so it doesn't move around much and you'll be fine. We always ship it wrapped around 3" cores... So long as it's not going to sit for a week on the core...
  11. How many of you could leave your shop behind for at least a month and not have any issues?

I think ginos post makes the most sense and explains it the best. Is it possible? Sure... With a ton of hard work and time you can eventually get there. But if your plan is to own a business and not be a part of it... There's so many other less demanding industries out there to do that in...
  12. Need Help Transfer Tape or not

I'm going to go against the grain and say don't pre mask. It's cheap.. But your adding work and time when you don't need to. That wrap is one of the easiest to learn how to do it without premask.... So no time like.the present to learn. Whenever you get to a non solid piece that's been...
  13. Shipping Large Masked Decals

Put it on a 3 or 6" core.... Roll it graphics out and then ship it in the box your vinyl came in. If you're rolling it tight enough to try and fit it inside a core it's going to wrinkle. It may seem like a huge box for such a small print... But it's one of the only ways. Better to spend a few...
  14. Started at a new shop recently....

Tons of bad wrap jobs. Heck, a lot of people think it's easier than painting and try it themselves. I've never painted professionally so I don't know how hard it is. We've had a bunch of vehicles come in for re-wraps after a crash though... We do lots of police vehicles. We've done panel...
  15. Started at a new shop recently....

depending on who's wrapping between 2 and 5 days for a color change. Yes, they take a lot longer because you have to remove handles, loosen fenders (In most cases), as well as a ton of other prep work... But once you're good at it, you can do 1 day of prep work.. 1-1.5 days of wrapping, and half...
  16. Started at a new shop recently....

Ignore the blurs. A couple co-workers didn't like being in photos... and I edited out the plate. This customer spent hours sanding and prepping his vehicle so the wrap would look good - At this point we asked him why not just get it painted... He said it'd have cost a lot more, and they said...
  17. Started at a new shop recently....

The Average paintjob is around $3-5000 depending on the vehicle... I'd say a BMW would range in the 5K. Now if you're doing a crappy maaco it can be done for under 1K... But I wouldn't maaco my beater vehicle let alone a BMW. We do lots of color changes... People like them because it's a...
  18. Question HP 365 Users. What the deal with the number of passes?

Is it true that 6p/100 is the same quality as 10p/100? So long as it can dry fast enough though? I always thought higher pass was higher density. Hp tech guides say you need 18p to get to 1200 dpi. But this guy is saying you're always printing at 1200dpi... Seems like there's conflicting...
  19. Question HP 365 Users. What the deal with the number of passes?

We generally 10p everything. Sometimes well 8p banners or cheaper material we know is staying up for a short time. F Why? Sure it's slower and sure it uses more ink... But ink is pennies on the job. Time wise if we're busy well drop the passes down, but if we're not well eat the minimal ink...
  20. Question making graphics/decal from outline templates

We do three strips - 1", 1/2" and 1/4" All along a vehicle. We've done it to about 5 different pickup trucks, 4 different cars and a few huge street sweepers. I think out of them all 1 was a bit off. We'll generally blow up a photo of the vehicle and overlap it with the outline - If it...
