Thank you Sophie for the detailed review! We pulled the trigger and should have it up and running within the next couple of weeks. We ended up going with CMYKLcLmWW. Can't wait to get this thing up and running! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated once we're set up and printing.
  2. Is there a way to score the liner for decals?

Cool, thanks! I never realized those can also cut right through.....seems like a great tool to have in the shop!
  3. Is there a way to score the liner for decals?

This is what we usually do, but just manually. Kiss cut the decals on the plotter, weed, then trim into singles. What kind of backslitter are you guys running? Are you happy with it?
  4. Is there a way to score the liner for decals?

We've used these with some success: https://olfa.com/professional/product/top-sheet-cutter-ts-1/ You need a perfectly flat surface/workbench and a fresh blade, and the accuracy of the score is only as good as your hand pressure. We'll run sheets w/ marks printed that we score through on the...

Thanks for the info, much appreciated! Anyone else out there running one of these units?
  6. Suggestions GRAY OR BROWN ??

Have you tried using the Roland Color Library? Do you have LcLmLk inks? That should help get you closer to a true grey, although they're always a challenge.

    Good to know, thank you!

So you're running the LUS 170 White and Varnish? Have you had any issues with the cracking/failing of the white? Our dealer and Mimaki rep have suggested running LUS 200 white as it's supposedly better. I personally don't care about the 3M MCS Warranty as we're not a wrap shop so the LUS 170...
  9. Mimaki UCJV-300 Reviews

The price is definitely very attractive. It also helps that we can get over $6k trade in for a 11 year old Roland...... I'm debating whether or not I need to fly out to check this thing out and play with it for a day before committing or just pull the trigger already. I'm almost trying to...
  10. Mimaki UCJV-300 Reviews

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely appreciate it given that you're a tech. Do you know what the maintenance schedule is like? Do any of your customers have the clear/varnish yet? I don't know how recently that has been added - I know there were issues with the original white inks so I'm a...
  11. Anyone want to buy a DX6 head (Roland XR-640) or know where I can sell it?

Sorry, meant to update this thread. Our white nozzles had a miraculous recovery and are now firing 100% again. Changed a couple dampers and captops and she's back up an running now so we're keeping the head in place.
  12. Shirt re-order pricing

I get what you're saying and can appreciate your honesty and you not wanting to surprise your customer, but at the same time it's common sense (in any industry, let alone custom printing) that there is an economy of scale. I don't necessarily think you need to warn every customer that a future...
  13. Mimaki UCJV-300 Reviews

Anyone out there running one of these units? I've searched through the threads and still seems like there aren't many people out there using them. Any success or horror stories? What are you using it for, and is there anything you haven't been able to print with it? I'm seriously considering...
  14. Installing sign/frame to window mullions? Is it possible?

Thank you Moze, I really like this idea. I'll propose this to the customer and see if they're game to go this route. Thanks for all the great suggestions, I wish I would've asked you guys sooner! I'll keep y'all posted with the progress.
  15. Installing sign/frame to window mullions? Is it possible?

Actual ceiling is probably 2-3 stories up. (no full view pictures from my site check of course) There are beams running above (pics attached), but then I could still only support from the ends. I suppose that would still take most of the load like you said.... Do you think drilling into the...
  16. Installing sign/frame to window mullions? Is it possible?

We've got a customer looking to install a 4' x 8' snap frame that will go across a corner of a skywalk in a fairly high traffic setting. They don't want a base/floor stand of any sort. (see picture/mockup) Found a 4' x 8' snap frame, no problem. Where the problem is, however, is that they...
  17. Need Help I have angry customers :(

Are you guys using this? We've been using it for almost 5 years now and I'd love to see how other people use it. They're adding a lot of cool automation features but I can't say I've played around with them much.

  19. Need Help Flush solution for an OCE Arizona 550 XT

I seem to remember them coming out with a bulletin saying to only use alcohol on a regular basis, and flush for stubborn nozzles. I'll see if I can dig it up.
  20. Anyone want to buy a DX6 head (Roland XR-640) or know where I can sell it?

Long story short, we need to replace one of the heads on our XR-640. I believe these are the DX6 heads. I can get the shot count and post a picture of the test print if it gets to that. The nozzle check is 100% perfect with the cmyk channels but is missing 2 rows of nozzles on the white. We...
