As Equippaint mentioned, the Mimaki series is the only one that I know of that does print/cut with UV. Just a note, Canon is the only company that currently offers UVgel which as far as I know is proprietary.
Keep in mind that a built in plotter may not be able to handle rolls of lexan and...
If you're ruling out Thermal then UV is really your only/best choice, paired with a flatbed cutter. A roll to roll plotter might be able to achieve what you want but won't be as reliable as sprocket fed that you're used to. (assuming you've paired your Edge w/ a Gerber plotter)
You didn't...
Thanks for these, keep em coming! I don't personally do a lot of installs but have definitely struggled with posts and 4x8 panels before.
Love these little tricks that help installs go smoothly and turn out better.
Thanks Joe, I will look into this. Spoke to the seller last night and he's going to send me to adapter they were using with success, so I'm putting this on the back burner until I get that part.
Tried straight serial cable - and still no luck. I thought for a second it was trying to connect from the computer but just got the usual error.
Tried installing plotter through Winplot, Summa Cutter Control, Onyx Cut server, and nothing.
Any ideas? Bueller?
I'll definitely consider both those options, thank you. Just about to try the serial cable with no adapters on a different computer and see what happens. Will report back.
It's amazing how much of a difference this can make!! I'm glad a tech mentioned this a while back while doing the annual maintenance on our Arizona. Easy fix and makes a big difference.
So I got a used Summa S140 T yesterday. Put her all together and booted it up fined.
Seller mentioned USB port was damaged/not working, so they would include a serial/usb adapter. This was forgotten so I went out and bought one. (For the record I had to get a female/female serial adapter...
Yeah quickbooks is so nice and simple for estimates and converting them into invoices with one click. I've looked into other options in the past and nothing beats QB's simplicity for quoting, invoicing and reports.
To the OP - if you're already using QB for bookkeeping you could just create...
Quick question regarding the barcodes/crop marks - will Onyx print the same marks regardless of it you're sending a cut to a Roland or Summa?
I'm supposed to be getting this Summa plotter on Monday and would love to cut some jobs on it right away. If I print some jobs on our Roland on...
We use ND's 13oz GB PET non curl and it works well. We print on it with Eco-solvent and UV and have had good results. Looks like they list Latex as having "fair" results on this stock....whatever that means lol...
Thanks for the feedback and advice Matt, really appreciate it!
Couple more questions for you guys, sorry Adam don't mean to hijack your thread.
1. What are you guys doing for workflow? Anyone here using Onyx to print then cut to a Summa F series? My goal is to print from Onyx to our...
Hey Ben,
We've recently played around with something like this on our Oce Arizona flatbed. Customer had some existing fasara office graphics up and liked the look, and we came up with some patterns ourselves and printed on optically clear. We actually did some tests on both our Roland XR-640...
Take this with a grain of salt as I know next to nothing when it comes to lighting or channel letters.
Is the aluminum inside the returns white? (If not, this would maybe help)
Assuming you're using a solid black substrate for the backer, would it be crazy to cut the letters out of white vinyl...
Man that's really good to hear. I need to check one out in person and see for myself. Thanks for the review, enjoy the new toy!
That's also really good to hear. I'd love to get one of the full size tables but we just don't have the space, and that would trigger us having to move to a bigger...
Funny you should mention this, we just did a customer's brand new 2019 F-150 and removed the OEM "Sport" decals (same location as where they put the FX4, 4x4 etc) and had the same thing happen.
I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but sure enough there is a clear area where it yellowed...
Do you mean it's failing prematurely or are you having issues removing it?
I'm looking into using this material so I'd be interested to hear how it holds up.
Glad to hear you're happy with it Adam! I've been eyeing these out since they first came out and still believe they're a great option compared to the expensive alternatives.
Did you go with the router option? I've always wondered if one of these would do okay with light duty routing (3mm...
