  1. Onyx 18

Those swatch counts are only for the "accuboost" option after creating the icc profile. basically an iteration. Onyx says it helps achieving better pantone colour matches so im assuming it may make changes with the pantone cmyk values. i haven't had much time seeing what everything does. In onyx...
  2. Onyx 18

I did the new "accuboost" thing. 2890 swatches later (3 options 2890 / 3970 / 5292) and it still doesn't know what to do with the reds. profile looks no different really. I swear either im doing something wrong somewhere or it cannot understand the red patches well.
  3. Onyx 18

HA! I had some toying around. The icc engine seems to have the same issues. dark rich reds go brown. The new saturation setting lightens everything. so those browns go light brown. The colour checker, it works but delusional IMO. My onyx profile passed, but the i1p failed, has a larger...

Yeah that's how i found out. At the end of the day i wont need to use it. Already got 3rd party software that can check accuracy vs a reference set. I downloaded the trial on my laptop (not my actual RIP pc) and put in all my profiles to have a look. There's a few small changes here and there...

Seems like all the colour checker stuff required "advantage gold"? wow. It's not something i had planned to use, but you'd think they'd have that all in the software since they're marketing it all. Still waiting on my key so haven't been able to try it.
  6. Printing full bleed on aluminum blanks on flatbed - jigs?

I dont know how many sheets you have on the bed at once or size. I never print on my table. creates more work later on and looks messy. But i would be trying other vacuum bond sheets. Or even get really thin/low GSM non coated paper.

Dude no why you doing that?? Upgrade Thrive to run both printers! Beats paying for 2 licences. And im pretty sure you can run thrive on multiple computers on the same network. (double check it though) and you also able to run Thrive remotely. use this to check your licences...
  8. Onyx 18

Also, the coming monday is release date. I'm real excited to try the new software.
  9. Onyx 18

I didn't realise there was a reply! I can see the difficulty with fabric. What Spectro do you use? You at least need something with 6mm aperture for good measure with fabric. You should be able to get I1 Profiler profiles to work in caldera. do everything in the RIP but when it comes to...
  10. Print on matte black

Why ask, when you have the tools to try! The amount of stuff we try is pretty unreal. People come to us with out there ideas, and we will try, not for them but for us. Because if results are good, we not only have pleased out client, we've developed a new product.

  12. Proofing Help

You can't "design" in onyx. But you can edit in job editor, i.e crop marks, bleeds, colour adjustments ect. that is not "Design" work what you're doing in onyx. cropping, bleeds, scaling ect isn't design and not intended for your client to see. That is there so you can do all those on the fly...
  13. Need Help New printer

I don't use roll printers, But if i was in the market for one and 1640mm width, i'd go with the latex or an Oce colorado as i dont do wraps.
  14. Onyx postershop 11 Web Portal

As far as im aware, only Thrive does this.
  15. City wants STRAPS sewn through banner

I don't understand the issue. Your client tells you what they want. You either can or cannot do it (impossible or you don't have the right equipment) If you can do it, you quote it accordingly. If they agree to your given price, You make their item as they had originally asked, to their specs...
  16. Onyx 18

I notice onyx gets Reds wrong but it does tones nicely. Xrite does it all nice but i have found it can make dark colours murky. I know you can do a bit more with I1Profiler like optimisation, but i've never actually tired. I might give it a shot when i get some free time.
  17. Onyx 18

Did you get the I1p publish package? if you did, try using their ICC engine. It's actually quite good and forgiving. You honestly dont need to go crazy on patches either. The IT8-7.4 chart is fine to use. or 944 patches in onyx. or you're wasting time if you dont have an automatic Spectro...
  18. Onyx 18

A lot of it is experimenting and having the right tools for the job. Onyx has some useful info, but i wish they'd give more info about their software. They have a lot of tools but they're useless if people unsure how to use them. Unfortunately i've been though websites and forums with not much...
  19. Onyx 18

Correct. But when you create a media profile, Ink Restrictions - Calibration (linearisation) - Ink limits all contribute to the final ICC profile output. You can modify the ICC profiles with onyx. Got to the modify and manage drop down in the "icc profile" section and press edit. You can...
  20. Reverse print on back of clear acrylic help

wow, all that mucking around for an acrylic sign. That sort of stuff is best left to the flat bed printers. - No offence.
