  1. What to do with DWG and DXF...

I here ya. The truth is AutoCad was my software of choice at my old old job. I used to design electronic floor plans and wire diagrams for an electronic systems company. (boring.... :Big Laugh) But I think in your case it isn't necessarily the software that is the issue but the way the...

  3. GTO illustration and more T-shirt questions.

Here is the back side of one of the shirts: Like I said before, I only used 4 spot colors. I can separate the colors as bitmaps, but not vectors (at least without doing a bunch of work. Here is the pantone blue color: When it comes to vector, I have no issue separating colors if they were...
  4. Any Input Helpful

At this point in the game, you don't want to bite off more than you can chew. Concentrate on just your lettering, and get a better handle on that. I'll give you a hint. Look at most major brands out there, Do you see them using crazy gothic style or stenciled looking fonts? No. Why do you...
  5. GTO illustration and more T-shirt questions.

Actually they are that vibrant in real life. I'm working from a photo and even thought I'll exaggerate some things, to make it look a bit more illustrated, in this case not the red. Regardless of how it looks in real life and on the screen, my guess is when the screen printers gets a hold of...
  6. Graphic Design School OR ???

All good points, I thought I might add this: Whether you go to school or not, You should subscribe to signcraft. I would argue that it would teach you more than any single textbook. Then get out there and meet other sign makers. Go to letterhead meets or trade shows or walldog events. They...
  7. Build your own CNC for under $200

  8. what do you hate about your software?

:goodpost: Same here. I do it the same way in the cases where I have to make text a certain size (when using gemini letters for example), but since most the work we do is where we are given an area to work within, I size text to look right in that space minding the negative space and what not.
  9. GTO illustration and more T-shirt questions.

You should see it in person... and you can July 24 at the grand opening! :thumb:
  10. GTO illustration and more T-shirt questions.

Okay so I've been getting a lot more illustration jobs. The owner of the largest Pontiac Automobile collection is opening a Pontiac Museum here in town. He wanted me to illustrate a few of his cars. I started with the GTO for obvious reasons. Next I need to turn this into a t-shirt...
  11. Critique If You'd Like

When I see that name, this comes to mind: :ROFLMAO: By the way don't do this. This is the very definition of copyright infringement.

It actually was just going to be a model for the illustration, but they liked it as is, so I rendered it as a very large image.
  13. Critique If You'd Like

I would say give your lettering some room to breath. It is a bit too condensed and is making it harder to read. Also your blue would read much easier if it were a lighter shade of blue because as is there isn't enough contrast between the blue and black. Hope that helps.

I haven't mastered 3d designing/posing yet. I doubt I will ever come close to mastering it. Although I have come along way. Here is one I did a year ago: http://signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61054&highlight=beer This rendering is much nicer than what I did then especially the face...

To us down payments are also an earnest payment. It's a trust thing that goes both ways. A client that is serious about having us provide them a services by making an earnest payment, will never back out when they have made a financial commitment. Those that are unwilling to do so end up...

You know if paying 50% down and then 50% after completion is a bookkeeper's nightmare, they could always pay 100% down. :Big Laugh
  17. 50% Deposit

If you wanted to be jerk back you could say: We can't, but then we pay our bills on time. :Big Laugh All kidding aside, If it were us, I would say it's not about working capital, it's our company policy. A policy we use working with all of our clients.

No I'm working on that one right now. It should blow anything I've ever done out of the water. Should being the important word. With the amount of time I've been putting in it. It better. :Big Laugh

It's a 3d rendering. The rest is vector created in Corel Draw.
