  1. Gentle but Firm - Please?

Elegant does not come to mind, it's too clunky and bold. I would say it's vintage, like your other attempts. There is a really good book i use when they start using describing a look. They pick a look in the book, and you both know what to shoot for... kinda like a PMS book for graphic styles...
  2. Gentle but Firm - Please?

The font is called Tanek, it might be difficult to find. Usually I ask people to donate to the site if they are going to directly use the idea but it's such a simple design. You are more than welcome to use it, but it would be nice to supported the forum, I'll leave that to you with no...
  3. Architectural Drawing Software

Do you have CadTools for Illustrator? www.hotdoor.com
  4. Gentle but Firm - Please?

Who are you trying to attract? The logo is retro, but in the "commercial designer" type of design. Back then, it was quickie design, simple, legible, generic. I have some attraction to that type of design for it's super simplicity. There are a lot of graphic designers logos who use this type...
  5. Architects should start out as signguys...

Umm, yeah, it is your job, and it's fun too... most of my architect work came from correcting them and now i either review their signage packages, or design them. Use it as an opportunity to cover their butt and offer your services, some architects are cool, and most pay very well.
  6. Architects should start out as signguys...

I was going to comment on that, but he is in Canada. They have their own accessibility standards...
  7. Branding + Fleet Wrap Design

I would be very proud of that fleet. Very clean, even with the truck logo and type switched, it looks consistent. Very nice.
  8. Architects should start out as signguys...

Looks all choppy, like it was designed on AutoCad... I wonder his screenshot would look like prior to sending it over to you? That might take a while to fix. You might want to warn everyone of the yelling and cussing you are going to do at your screen. Oh and a box of screen cleaners, crap...
  9. Architects should start out as signguys...

Note to self: "Westy" is alergic to corndogs... include Benadryl and have crash cart ready... (have some more ) :corndog::corndog:
  10. Happy Anniversary SIGNS 101

9 years has flown by so fast... Thanks for Eli for starting this forum, thanks to Fred for growing and keeping it relevant. This site was made from it's members, but without a forum leader like Fred, this place would have wasted away like many other sign sites. Forums like this do...
  11. Architects should start out as signguys...

You in front, have a corn dog too... :corndog: My comment was an underhanded way of trying to get a peek, what, don't you people ever get curious? By the way I'm working on artwork where the "designer" made this logo and used white boxes to make a break in the color, instead of just making...
  12. Architects should start out as signguys...

I have had some really bad artwork... one took a week to rebuild after going back and forth about "final" artwork. I know the frustration, even billing with adding my frustration rate, I yelled at the designer through my screen the entire time... but I did get a lot of pent-up anger out.
  13. Architects should start out as signguys...

Yeah, umm, I really wasn't looking for comments from the cheap seats... have a corn dog :corndog:
  14. Architects should start out as signguys...

That's a bold statement, I have seen pretty bad files myself... wish I could have a peek.
  15. VW show logo

Is this an aircooled BBQ, mixed, or water pumpers?
  16. Retro HVAC logo and Ribbon Script Effect

Yeah, weird, since it's not even close.... (add little toungey thingy to not take me serious) Dan, When I first saw this logo, I started rummaging through my books looking for the lettering reference that had a ribbon typeface. I use references all the time as inspiration, they are usually...
  17. Half a million Mac computers 'infected with malware'

Oh no, .5% of all the Macs sold in the US in the past 4 years are infected!!! And yes, Macs should have some anti virus protection even if the virus potential is low, it's enough to warrant a little extra security.
  18. Best Wrap Training/Seminars - Thoughts?

Art is subjective, design is a process. If you are talking sign shop good, Dan may be talking about something beyond your wide comments. Really, most sign shops are not known for "good" design... most are in the realm of "good enough" to "can't see it from my house" If the process is design...
  19. When to charge for a sign layout and when to charge for a logo design?

It WOULD be shortsightedness on their part not to pay for a nice logo design as they will be selling shirts to fund the event and using the logo in a flyer to promote the event. Layout... what is that? We sign designers rarely design a "layout". More times than most we provide them a logo-ized...
