  1. RE-PAINTING an old sign help & tips please

IMO I wouldn't do the job. No telling how far the rot has gone into the sign or what other problems are lurking. Another issue with those type of clients is once you touch it you own it. Meaning the least little thing goes wrong you won't hear the end of it.
  2. How do you dress at work? Uniforms?

At the computer or in the shop I wear jeans and a t-shirt. Summer is shorts and t-shirt. Installs are shorts or jeans and shirt with logo. Client meetings are khakis with embroidered logo dress shirt. What I've learned over the years: Always bring a change of clothes when working on boats...
  3. Silly Question ... Spray Bottles

I concur with Gino. I buy the small ones from Dollar Tree. I only fill them halfway so they float. If one does sink to the bottom no great loss.
  4. Hi from the Philippines!

    :welcome: from Wisconsin
  5. Need Help Photopolymer vs thermoforming vs Injection Molded?

Billet aluminum with powdercoat finish. Modern CNC equipment can do intricate work. Find a machine shop in your area and ask for a quote.
  6. Suggestions need suggestions on walnut sign

Gilded letters would look great, just sayin'...
  7. Marquee signs

Last ones I did were years ago and I used rivets. One was adding track to an existing sign the other was a new panel. I tried using the glue, but the fumes were horrible even with the doors open. Somewhere in the shop I think I have a tube full of tracks and boxes of rivets...
  8. Kapco Graphics

I've used a lot of their calendared with air release. Works well for temporary signage and is resistant to many fluid and gaseous hydrocarbons.(I know because I did the testing) There is a specific laminate that goes with to add another layer of protection against hydrocarbons. I wrote a post...
  9. Suggestions HP laser printer to pair with roland cutter a3 size or simillar

What you are trying to do won't work. Printing on vinyl needs a purpose built solvent or latex printer. May want to check into a used Roland SP300V. Solid little printer.
  10. Clear Acrylic with Standoffs Corners Cracking

Top or bottom corners? If it's top corners out of the way of human body parts there might be an issue with material, clearances, etc... May want to look into Makrolon Hygard. Expensive, but cheaper than doing the job twice. Since I have no control over people in the facility I don't warranty...
  11. Roland vs Mimaki

BigFish may be able to help with a print/cut solution that's brand new for not much more than the Roland. As I'm typing this my SP540V is running a job. It's been a good rig, but I now cut with a Summa. World of difference. No more making allowances for the Roland's cut limitations.
  12. Flatbed Projects

Thank you for the suggestions. Completely new machine to learn. It's going to be an interesting semester.
  13. Flatbed Projects

For those with flatbed printers. I would like some ideas for classroom projects using a flatbed printer and flatbed cutter. In a nutshell what would make you want to have our students as interns or hire them? So far I've come up with sandwich printing on glass, POP displays, and packaging...
  14. Vector illustrations for t-Shirt designs

Wow, those are nice! How many hours does it take?
  15. Question Best Adhesive Remover ?

I've been using Orange Peel followed by 91% IPA.
  16. Safety sticker trademark or royalty question.

Not so far and I do a lot of industrial labeling. Engineering sends me a PDF with all necessary bits. Most are ANSI spec. Some are custom.
  17. What printer did this?

Probably something like this: http://matanprinters.com/products/traffic-printer/dts-40/ Many years ago I would sub out to a shop that had a Matan Sprinter. Prints looked great.
  18. Where to find labor

NWTC. At this point students wrap trailers, and do partials on vehicles. Everything from initial consult, photos, dimensions, design, design approval, to print/lam and install. It's part of the wide format program. All work done is for non-profit organizations. Students end up with a solid...
  19. Signs365 charging double for fast service

Rush to finish. Something invariably gets missed, messed up, or you miss the drop dead date. Been there, done that, don't do it anymore. Dad always said: "Why don't you have the time to do it right, but find the time to do it twice?"
  20. Where to find labor

Yup, as a condition of graduating our students need to serve 144 hours in their chosen field.
