  1. Take-up Reel = crap

I wish I could attribute the fault to myself, trust me I've tried; however, it doesn't matter how I tape it if the left side of the take up reel is able to rock back and forth while i'm taping it. I thought I had it somewhat under control by jamming a piece of coroplast between the bracket and...
  2. Take-up Reel = crap

reel pic I havent see the Mutoh take up, but what causes it on my roland is that the right side where the take up motor is, is solid and stationary, while the adjustable side is this flimsy bracket that no matter how tight you make the bolt, it will still move. Especially while you are trying...
  3. Take-up Reel = crap

I do the same. The problem is that there is nothing except that one hand bolt to keep it straight. It has so much play from front to rear if I dont have it perfectly straight when I tighten it down, it causes the media to creep one way or the other on the take up reel. ayone else had this problem?
  4. Take-up Reel = crap

(XC-540) Has anyone ever seen a cheaper POS on a $30K machine? There is no way to make sure the take up reel is parallel wit the machine causing media to spool crooked, and ultimately bend up and hit the head. Anyone found a fix for this?
  5. COPYRIGHT Logo prints...How is THIS possible?

I usually just contact the companies when I do something like this. Most of the time they are fully cooperative. they usually ask to see the final design and have to ok it first, but usually they dont mind. Free advertising for them.

  7. Airplane wrap help

I came for advice, and Plan to take it to heart. And quite frankly after listening to everyone, and watching this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go-PjCuLbOo I think I will probably push as hard as I can towards a decal package, but now that you just said that, how do I know I wont cover up...
  8. Airplane wrap help

yeahh.. so thats probably why I asked if they just dont do "full" wraps since I was trying to discern whether there would be a difference in my requirement to meet regulations and insurance stipulations which he spoke of on wraps Vs. decal application. I just wanted to make sure that that was...
  9. Airplane wrap help

  10. Airplane wrap help

ok, so anything that looks like a sensor will not be wrapped IE will be cut out like a key hole, or vehicle light. I'm not planning on doing a blanket wrap and blindly covering stuff up or putting perforated film over the windshield, I, just trying to find out how I would wrap those curves, but...
  11. Airplane wrap help

they are crop dusting planes that will be spraying disbursement chemicals over the oil spill. I was thinking that maybe just doing the bottom of the plane might be an option with decal package on the sides
  12. Airplane wrap help

wrap or not I immediately thought decal package when I heard about it, not wrap, but they said they wanted it wrapped like the promotional racecar they had wrapped so I dont know how much they have actually thought this through. If I can I will definitely steer them in to a decal package, I'm...
  13. Airplane wrap help

So we just finished wraping a 25ft camper for this guy, and now he called us and said this guy he talked to wants his plane wrapped before it goes to the gulf to help in the oil spill. How do I design and wrap a conical shape? I thought maybe doing it in 24" wide pieces instead of 52" panels to...
  14. need to find profile

I went to grimco's site, but couldnt find a profile downloader. Do you have a link?
  15. need to find profile

I am about to print 30ft of mesh banner (something I havent done before) and I am looking for a profile for versaworks that will not flood to much ink. there is no mesh banner standard profile, and roland told me to get ahold of the manufacturer and they should have a profile. Unfortunately I...
  16. sandblasting

well, I just tried it. using some intertape brand material 30mil. It seems like it is a rubber, not really making any dust. I cut it with 11 upspeed, 200 grams of force, and 10 cut speed with a 60deg blade. went ok, ill probably increase the force to 220 on the next one though
  17. sandblasting

has anyone cut sandblast material with an xc-540? what cut settings do I use?
  18. whats wrong with my XC-540?

  19. whats wrong with my XC-540?

yes it has happened on basically all of our media, banner, 3M IJ180, and it just did it on the matte solvent paper I had in, especially where there was dense reds. it is about 70 degrees in the shop
  20. whats wrong with my XC-540?

well, i guess i'll clean it again, run a med clean cycle and see it it still happens, then call in the support team. it always seems to be a problem with the magenta which also happens to be the color of ink that I am lowest on; dont know if that is related to the problem or not.
