  1. whats wrong with my XC-540?

I dont think it is the blades, the whole machine itself is only about a month old. I clean the heads with the factory foam swabs once a week, and the wipers look ok, granted I have never seen what they look like when they go bad since we have only had the machine for about a month.
  2. whats wrong with my XC-540?

I am getting drops of magenta across my prints. I clean the heads every week, but it seems to be a recurring problem. I just ran a clean cycle on B bank but havent done a test print yet. any ideas on why this is happening?
  3. Does this dang silvering really go away?

Soooo, the Seal(brand) laminators use a heat assisted top roller. is it worth it to use heat assist, or should I just get the royal sovereign cold only?
  4. Font ID

no, because there isn't a terminal at all in the font for fire rescue, the serifs just make an angle. but in the herrin font, there is a rounded terminal. the closest I could find was Arno Pro ,bold caption
  5. Font ID

I tried copperplate, but the terminals on copperplate are squared off, while on this font they are rounded.

  8. How do you deal with vistaprint customers?

I think these .com printers are great for freelance designers. I even found one that gives out free hard copies to wholesalers/designers. But as was said before, if you're not a designer, you're going to get a cookie cutter design. people have a real hard time right now paying for design and of...
  9. Font ID Help, Please

Hmmmm... the closest I could find if fashion victim, but your W would be off. you might be able to use fashion victim with a W from another retro font
  10. Fire engine font

I think it may be close enough to use! I'll send it for proof to make sure. Thanks.
  11. Fire engine font

That was my first thought, however I must disagree. If you'll notice that the lower serif on the "R" ( and all other letters, just easier to see on the R) is different. The fillet is much more gradual. Also on the C in the font I am looking for the serifs are vertical while in copperplate they...
  12. Fire engine font

I need to find this font for a local body shop doing repairs on a fire engine. I thought it might be a stretched out copperplate at first, but its not. then I found the font Megadeth on daFont and it looks like whatever font they used for the basis of Megadeth is probably what I'm looking for, I...
  13. Epson, Summa, Roland, Mimaki, Mutoh??????

ok, here is a dumb question, but since I have only worked with thermal transfer, I dont know. 16. List of eco solvent printers anything other than roland, mimaki, mutoh?

one thought if you have found an old printer in your range that you think might work, but have an issue with serial ports, you can find cables that are serial on one end and USB on the other for just this type of issue. I am in the process of looking for a new printer as well, I just haven't...
  17. List of eco solvent printers anything other than roland, mimaki, mutoh?

WOW... people are vicious in here. With a 3k budget I would recomend calling the different companies, roland mutoh.. etc, and having them send you print samples from their machines. decide which one you like, and find a sign shop that has that model. use the 3k to buy a wrap from them, and put...
  18. Epson, Summa, Roland, Mimaki, Mutoh??????

I always call Summa directly. We bought the DC2 used, but the lifetime tech support is transferable so I use them often when I hit a wall.
  19. Epson, Summa, Roland, Mimaki, Mutoh??????

why not summa? I know the res is low (3-600dpi) but for wraps you wont really be right next to it anyway. And I must say, The Tech support from Summa has been Priceless. Always available and can usually fix my problem in 30 min or less. how has support been with other manufacturers?
  20. Major Vinyl problems!!!!!!!!!! :-(

Had this problem once with an etched vinyl about 6 months ago. I had never seen it happen before and the only thing I could think of was that the vinyl had been sitting in the office for at least a year and a half and might have just gone bad. I bought some new 3M dusted vinyl and re-did the job...
